  1. hi I've known people use gas bottles there very good but make shore there open for 2-3 days before getting near it with a welder or gas torch. Tim
  2. it may be nice for the Police if you have a nice play in some nice clayey mud before thay take it thay'll love liying under it then
  3. chassis numbers are stamped on the right-hand side of the chassis forward of the spring mounting turret and the vin plate other than that engine number I dont thing theres any other number that can prove what engine, gearbox, body and chassis belong to anuther. did you use a hpi as if you did and it turns out to be stolen thay have to pay out (i think). good luck. Tim
  4. my slector grub screw came lose on my transfer box came out of high into low one day when i reversed in to a ditch when i got back on the road went to put it back in to high can out of low got stuck in neutral had to push my disco a mile to find a wide spot in the lane Tim
  5. what type of trailing are you wanting to do as i do class 4 RTV's and i haven't got stuck yet, after 2 years all i run is a 2.5td 90 with an old set of 235/85/16 dirt devils. my farther inlaw uses a 300TDI 90 with 235/85/16 insa turbo special track and comes in the top 10 most years and my brother inlaw uses a v8 90 with 7.50/ 16 mud trains< and comes in the top ten too. the only landy's that do better is the 80" (tonker toys) there are some with all engines I'd see if i could get an old S1 80" and cut the chassis to fit the S1 boy on to the RRC chassis. Tim
  6. yes know that one, no days off just try to get the work done asap, and if i'm lucky i may get some time to take the TD out of my 90 I keep missing days out because it's off the road Tim
  7. hi please let us know when you next p&p day is as you only just down the road. Tim
  8. no never done it mind you we dont get much snow these days but saying that i cant think i would be to head to fit a basick snow plough if you had a winch fitted you could use it to lift and lower and a pivit point shouldn't be to hard to find tim
  9. 88'c is the right one for winter
  10. my cable broke so a put a rope so may be able to make a lever that would fit on to the lever the cable go's on. my bit of rope works. Tim
  11. hi have you taken the center console off and had a look at the spring and reversing switch 7 screws and maybe pop rivets,or screws depending on weather anyone has had to do anything to the gearbox only takes 15-20minutes and you can see the top and if there's nothing wrong there, you've started to take the gearbox out. last jan i had to put a gearbox in my disco i got mine from Landy Ltd i've had no problems i covered 25,000 miles since then Tim.
  12. ebay item No. 120192360836 Iymington, Hampshire don't know if its any good for you Tim
  13. HI i was thinking you could cut a LR rear axle and weld front axle swivles onto the rear axle then put a ram for the steering with a valve in the cab to control it with a pump running off the crank thats my idea. i have no idea weather it would work or if the drive shafts would be the right lengths, can't think i'll get the time to find out. couldn't use it with the ALRC. Tim
  14. hi i was on ebay last night as there was a complete truck cab top, can't remember were it was i think it was at 50quid ish if its still there and close to you it would mean you'd only need the tail gate Tim
  15. hi yes my disco dose it as well. i alwes thort it was like the old series, they were like it to make them sit level with the camber of most roads. all my bushes are ok and i don't have antiroll bars so it isn't that on mine. Tim
  16. I'd say the 200tdi is a little better for strength, but the 300tdi is a bit more power full. v8 bit more power full than 300tdi and get the power a bit faster for 2 years i've been doing RTVs in a 2.5TD i'm putting a 200tdi in to my 90. mainly as the clutch has gone so take the TD out put a TDI back in. so if i was wanting to buy a landy for doing RTVs i'd go for a 200TDI if money is limited or a 300TDI if it wasn't, and a v8 if the power and sound, if i could run it as a day to day car. Tim.
  17. with out having any photos it's very hard to say. most cracked heads are not repairable that i've come across would need to find out what engine and how big a crack it is i had to put a new head on my 200tdi disco in october and that cracked in number 3 exhaust couldn't be got to.to have it welded.
  18. i would use a bit of 1/4" flat steel instead of a washer
  19. In my opinion the td5's electricly controlled throtle isn't as good when doing rtv's and general off roading as it isn't as controlable because the computer isn't as direct as a cable and foot. tim
  20. most alrc clubs say you no if you can put a steel ruler across in the tread the insa tubo special track are farily good thats what i'm putting on mine when my bronco dirt devils cant be fixed or are worn out. tim
  21. selling the house will only keep you going for so long tim
  22. i didn't say i was right that it was 175kg. i've towed many thing some of them not trailers one thing was 3.5ton unbraked with the wheels at the very back, so the nose weight was well over 175kg just been out to have a look at my trailers my cattle trailer max noseweight is 150kg, 3500kg max gross my car transporter max noseweight is 100kg, 2700kg max gross. saying that i put discos on this trailer was shore it had a 3.5tom max gross??????? are you able to tow trailers in Ausralia with over run brakes or do thay have to be cuppled brakes as that would make a big diffrence. Tim
  23. I've been doing RTV's for the last 2 years in my 1989 2.5td running it on 235/85/16 at the rtv's i've hand not big problems with lack of power. but in saying that i've trailered it there as 45-50mph is very slow. i am now putting a disco 200tdi into it and have been told buy many that it will make it a hole diffrent truck.(so i'll have to get better as i won't be able to blame it on the truck) . the v8 are alot more fun but as i use my landy all the time it's far to costly to run but if it's only used for green laning and rtv's it's not so bad. mined you i've never seen one that like water like a diesel.
  24. the max nose weight is written on the plate of the trailer tow hitch. but i think the max weight on a 50mm ball is 175kg ish (not 100% shore tho) but when you've got over 100kg the handling go's out the window if you haven't got anti roll bars
