  1. I can always remember somebody telling me toothpaste. Never tried it so they may have beeen taking the paste. Ade
  2. Could possibly still be the clutch or presure plate gone weak. There may still be enough pressure plate pressure to allow the speedo & outputs to rotate without any real load on the clutch. Does that make sense? Adrian
  3. Could only be the clutch plate really, short of input shaft shear Or loss of teeth which is kind of excessive in thought. Id go with either the plates have detached or the centre has ripped out. Ive had centre detach from the sprung plate before. Adrian
  4. Rather than mouting the dampers vertically why not make a braket that will allow you to vary the angle of the dampe. IIRC redibex had done somthing similar on his truck using procomps.Dont know the outcome of the experimant though. What about Qtservices version of rear mounting of dampers? They are mounted inboard of the chassis rails & give good results on the ramps but at what price I dont know. Looks easy enough to make youself.qt hiflex Qt use Gaz shocks for their applications which are ajustable damping. I enquired with Gaz directly about the same shocks as QT & he was substantially cheaper & can make to whatever your requirements are.About 3-4wks wait on custom orders. Adrian
  5. Dave, seem to be having trouble opening the page. When I click on hydra assist it takes me to the suspension page Adrian
  6. Where did you get the prop, & what prop did you use? I understand that 200tdi shafts are diff length to 300tdi ones.
  7. Ive got a spare 4bolt flange 24 spline diff knocking about so ill probably fit that for an easy fix.
  8. probably best to renew the prop then. Is it easy enough to chanhe from 3 bolt drive flange to the 4bolt config?
  9. Theres a pay & play site in saltash that charges £15 per vehicle, theres also a couple of sites in cornwall which at worst from plymouth is about 1hr or so down the A38/A30. There a new group of plymouth enthusiasts who have formed their own "following" who you might be interested in contacting.Pm me for details if interested. Adrian
  10. Rhys, is yours still fitted with the donut type prop? Its nice to know youve used gwyns stuff as that is what is in the pipeline. DId you need to trim the arches at all? Ade
  11. Does any body know the limitation on a standard rear prop on a 300tdi with a donut rubber coupling fitted. Whats the max lift & shock length that can be used with out running into problems with the donut being under undue stress. Also what lift is needed to fit 285/65/16 procomps on 8" mods. How much of the front & rear arches will need to be removed. Thanks Adrian
  12. Dynamat is what the Boy racers use to soundproof their "ICE" installs. Ive used sheets of underseal which I got from my local auto paint supplier. The type like you see on the back of door skins. They came on a roll approx 3ftwide with adhesive backing. IIRC can also get them around a foot sq. Easy to apply & can be mould into shape with a bit of hot air.

    Simex

D44 pretty much have the monopoly on simex, I know others do them but dont expect much difference in price. D44 wouldnt give me any discount on 5tyres!!! Try gwyn lewis hes cheaper on 15s.
  14. No simex in the country at the time, & the fedimas come in at 37" tall. Remoulds or not, the wear rate on them is really good, & ive been in situations where they have outperformed simexes on the same obstacles. D44 wanted £50 just to deliver the simex, which just kept pushing the price of 5 tyres up & up!! I paid 750 for the fedimas delivered to my door. toatl cost from d44 was 872quid...... thats nearly the cost of another fedima
  15. Thread was started in january...... tyres bought in april...... as tris said. I managed to get mine from kingoffroad in the end for the 150quid each. Goodluck trying to get hold of them, If you can get hold of their mobile numbers usually best method of contact. Adrian
  16. Transwave Probably the best in the business, the do sell via ebay also. Go for rotary convertor if your money will stretch. Get as big as you can aford & will be able to run 3 ph welders etc. Im sure they will advise you to your needs without ripping you off. Adrian
  17. Glad I found this thread, absolutely fed up of having to slip my shoulder straps off my harness to lean fwd to apply the brake. There will be a sudden surge on ebay prices I think.... Adrian
  18. James, tony had a chassis advertised complete with body etc.Make for an easy(er) rebuild. Ive seen the chassis/body & it was all in excellent conditon clicky here Dont know if its still availaibe... Theres sw galvanisers in crediton which have the capacity to dip chassis also.
  19. Id been looking at these but found nothing below £3.5k in diesel form & ok condition.
  20. Think their lsds fitted. Mate had a newer uk version but his was electronic traction control. Ive heard that mitsi's have problems with head gasket/heads. But I think that was in theyre ealier days , & most have probably been repaired by now.
  21. Dihatsi fourtrax go for good money & ive seen pajeros knocking about for a grand some fully loaded import specs. Adrian

  23. Have a problem with my tyres (scirrocos 36/10.5/16)where a couple are starting to de-laminte on the side walls. I can remember seeing a thread on here where somebody had the same issues. I have tried & tried but can not find any where. I know its there somewhere!! Does anybody know where the thread is? & has anybody else had similar probs?(with the tyres)If so what outcome did you get from the vendors?...if any Thanks Adrian
