  1. Wow, I was looking at the cost of the genuine intercooler hose elbows. That is some crazy pricing. Any aftermarket silicone elbow kits around?
  2. Anyone able to confirm that ERR3093 is a three groove pulley as those posted links show a 2 groove?
  3. Thanks, that will do exactly what I need. I even think that middle pulley is the same as location as what I have now on the 2.5NA, so my compressor bracket may just go straight on with no mods. Too bad the 200TDI is not already tapped for the mounting bolts. While we are on the subject of this engine, I was going over the bits today and it looks like one of the rubber elbows to the intercooler needs replacement. Is there anything better than genuine to use? The genuine ones look like they went to the lowest bidder . That must be the flimsyest hose material I have ever seen.
  4. From the UK, via this guy... http://www.k4rovers.com/ I went this route for simplicity of install and to let me keep the military gearbox. Here's hoping it runs fine!!
  5. OK, if I understand this right, the pulley closest to the engine is part of the harmonic dampener and the front one (or two) is this separate piece. I'll have to have a closer look. That'll be great as it will avoid the need to pull the dampener. Just four bolts.
  6. Well, I suppose, but that would require moving the alternator and having a dual pulley on the PS pump. I assume there must be a simpler way by following however the factory installed an air con pump.
  7. ATM , the compressor is mounted on the right side and using the front pulley groove. I assume this is the normal location for the air con??
  8. Thanks Simon, but unless I'm daft, that is a 300TDI and the belt arrangment is diiferent, no?? Les's Lump. The 200TDI has the rear belt driving the alternator and water pump. The front one drives the power steering
  9. TruTracs are the way to go for what you want. They are very smooth and bias the torque immediately and they won't break either.
  10. I've aquired a 200TDI to replace the 2.5NA. At the moment, I have a York air compressor running from the groove that is meant for the power steering pump. But, I'm adding power steering as well....and I can not live without the air compressor. How does the factory air con pump get its power? Is there a 3 groove crankshaft pulley available for the engine? Is this the one shown in the parts book as for "air con and power steering". any help with the proper part number would be great as it can be a PITA making sure you get the right bit from the other side of the world. Anybody got one lying around they wouldn't mind parting with? Thanks in advance John
  11. That would be pretty magic if it were true. We would have to re-write the laws of thermodynamics. Sorry, no more energy is coming out than went in.
  12. Just make sure they have been thoroughly cleaned. If they look dirty at all, you will get charged for cleaning.
  13. The instructions for adjusting the tach are in the linked document above.
  14. Don't you have the instructions.... http://www.egauges.com/pdf/vdo/0-515-012-044.pdf Yes, #2
  15. Salisbury and Rover 24 spline are the same size (at the splines) as stated in the link above.
  16. Oh yes, the sizing chart I wanted Polar section of the splined area... 0.294 versus 0.212, 39% stronger. Maxi-drive axle of the same materials are shown as 39% stronger as well.
  17. ???? 10 Spline is 1.11" outside and 24 spline is 1.24". If these were round stock, strength is proportional to the cube of diameter. That makes the 24 spline 39% stronger when built from the same materials.
  18. In your bottom pics you can adjust the loops to match the upper ones. Really, give it a try. I sure hope those ropes are not for recovery. On another note... Nylon straps should be used for vehicle to vehicle pulls as they have some stretch. Normal rigging straps are polyester and should only be used for anchors and such.
  19. Joining straps/rops with shackles has caused the death of a few people. Straps must be joined properly as shown below. It is extremely important that the rigging eqipment and recovery points on the vehicles be much stronger than the strap or winch line. I really wish people were forced to take accredited courses before venturing off road.
  20. Yes, 52mm fits in the main dash and in the center lower holes of older style dashes. IMO, get a 4000 rpm one. None of the diesels rev above 4500 and there is no point in being above 4000 rpm.
  21. Take the back off. You want to tap into one of the main wires coming from the stator before the rectifier. There should be three. On mine, there were bolts and I just used a ring connector. Here is a picture of mine. The blue wire is for the tach. The three spade connectors on the right lower are the normal ones (2 x 12V and the battery light). Your mileage may vary.
  22. Just put in an EGT gauge first. Make sure the EGTs don't get too high and you are safe. It is well tested that an air filter size/flow increase will do absolutely nothing to a TDI with a stock sized turbo.
