  1. No problems here with Green Flag(via the caravan club) on personel cover, when i blew the landy main gearbox on a 1966 lwb 2a, fairly rapid response as i had my 3yr old daughter with me at the time, recovered to a mates to sort it out. No increase in fee either for using the recovery unlike others & trailers are covered.
  2. If the master cylinder pushrod has no free play then heat from the exhaust could possibly lead to slipping as when the fluid expands it cant return to the resevoir so slightly operates the clutch giving slipping.
  3. Its sili**** on late(thin flange) 200tdi disco axles.
  4. No they wont as they have larger diameter nozzle retaining nuts. The nozzles are the same as S3 and have the same break pressure.
  5. As a time served turner i would agree and say sub the job out. Where i served my apprentiship as a turner in the 70's we had a lathe that i spent some time on, and from memory it was 8' center hight by 65' between centers, at the end of my apprentiship my lathe was a 42" center hight by i think 40' between centers, generally the jobs were in the regon of 35 tons weight and a value of £2M plus when finished. I have to make do with 8" center hight x 3' between centers now, with flat belt drive to boot, just need to rewire the workshop to get it working again!!!
  6. It might be but i have never before seen or heard of this idea . My guess is that a previous owner has fitted it because the drum is cracked and they did not want to fit a new drum. Play safe and junk that drum and any others that have this on them and fit new ones.
  7. No, as already stated its only the bellhousing casting thats different.
  8. The 4 pot Phaser that replaced the 4-236 is i believe 4ltr.
  9. Front, 299mm diameter x 14.3mm thick. Rear, 290mm diameter x 12.7mm thick.
  10. Rocky Mountain starter is for diesel i think you will find. 2.5 petrol starter wont fit in this case as the flywheel wont swap, he has a 3 bearing engine not a 5 bearing.
  11. I would guess that the mileage is over 100K so i would say its a head off job anyway, it could be a blowing head gasket(bore to pushrod way) if it came on suddenly, or another one is the pistons have cracked(common fault) or rings are on way out. Sorry.
  12. Err i think you will find that its actually 3.3ltr, or in imperial measurements 203 cubic inch. 4-203 = 4 cylinders & 203ci.
  13. Andy, sorry cant help on the photos, it was just another spanner session on an engine at the time, so i didnt bother with the camera. Also i was well cheesed off as i should have been in Norfolk on holiday but due to a strange missfire ended up doing the pistons, couldnt use the 109 either as the RH dumb iron had sheared off and i only found that out when checking the oil levels to go to Norfolk! So it seems like you have another job, involving a camera, when you do yours.
  14. Andy & LR90 read my post above, engine & box in.
  15. Edd, that is definitely no so on a 200Tdi disco as i have repistoned mine with the engine & box in situ.
  16. On the shell the only difference i found when using a van body to replace a rotten car body was that the seat belt anchorage points under the rear floor were just plugged holes, the brackets for the eye bolts down to the chassis were not fitted. All the other holes for bolting the seats and belts in had the nessesary captive nuts.
  17. My late(thin flange) 200tdi disco axles were 6 point heads 5/8" AF, 7/16" UNF thread.
  18. Acording to my 1988 parts book there is only one part number for 88" models.
  19. It will be tight to get at with the crank in, but having a look will soon show if it possible with the tools you have. Yes they are very important, as they provide a jet of oil for cooling to the piston crown that can lead to siezing/nipping of the piston in the bore if its not there. Been there, seen it, done it!!
  20. On TD injector pump, if the boost valve diaphragm has got a leak it will presurise the tank to some degree as the diesel return line to the tank is on the opposite side of the diaphragm to the boost air. With a bit of care the diaphragm can be changed without taking the pump off.
  21. Another point is that after all that work the master cylinder is the old one. So it could be down to carp in the master that has been stirred up with the bleeding. Cure is a reseal or new master cylinder. This is a common fault after this work.
  22. Salisbury pinion nut is 32mm. Salisbury crown wheel bolts 19mm a/f. Salisbury differential case bolts 19mm a/f. Salisbury bearing cap bolts 19mm a/f.
  23. Mobile no for the guy selling the power steering kit is 07968 228607. His name is Paul Hope this is who you are after.
  24. i would like to know what this part is on the distributor pump on a landrover 2.5 na diesel. Its a non user service item.
  25. Ill start the bidding at £55.00. Any more bids? Going once to Mr Hancock Going twice to Mr Hancock.
