  1. ECU remap or plugin box makes a BIG difference to performance but a lot of insurerers will add a big premium for it.
  2. That takes the tiddle when you can get ARB IPF uprated headlights from Devon 4x4 for £25 I have these on my 110 and they seem to give a nice headlight pattern. Ben
  3. If its pre 2001 it doesnt go into the funny new tax brackets, so next year a 1999 TD5 will be £185 to tax I think. On my 1999 TD5 I used to get ~250 miles on a tank which I think works out to about 25mpg. Thats chipped on 35" tyres and a roll cage for extra drag. Oh and I dont hang about. Ben
  4. I definitely want one of these unless it costs eleventy million pounds.
  5. I have 285x75x16 on my 110 on Boost wheels and no lift. Since I bought the truck I havent tried it offroad but I guess I am going to foul various bits of bodywork. The stops have been adjusted and my lock is similar to that of a supertanker now. Turning around in a road is similar to that Austin Powers scene (20 point turn). I guess at some point I will get a 2" lift which should fix the body mashing potential but without a change of wheels I guess I am stuck with a container ship turning circle. Does anyone have any pictures of a Defender with 255/85/16 tyres fitted? Ben
  6. I look after a 12 node cluster that we use to simulate non-metallic forming processes. Very clever stuff and it saves loads of cash, rather than making parts to see how features interact in composite parts its all done in a simulation environment. Ben
  7. I was going to come down and take some pictures but as my 110 wasnt ready today I am still stuck with a piece of carp Ford Ka Don't know if I can be bothered to drive it any further than I have to and the 90 is all cleaned up ready for some photos to sell it. Ben
  8. Mine is a Devon 4x4 Highmount tubular bumper. Not sure if they do them anymore though.
  9. Do you really want a package? If so Devon 4x4 do some OME packages HERE but when I come to do something with the suspension on my 110 I will actually have a chat with them and get the bits I actually need and spring rates that suit what I will be using the truck for. Ben
  10. The mudstuff bulkhead bar doesnt completely remove the bulkhead. The end result is shown below. Combined with the Seat rails it allows all 6'6" of me to be able to drive in comfort.
  11. I avoid doing anything too practical as I am a bolt shearing, screwhead rounding disaster area. Its not a problem with understanding what to do but purely being dangerous with a spanner. I can even ruin simple job. When I first got my 90 I bought one of those air intake things that are meant to improve heater efficiency. It should have been a simple removal of a couple screws and then screwing back on the new item, however you had to glue in a small piece of mesh and I carefully applied the glue and then managed to knock the whole lot onto the floor of the workshop which was covered in wood shavings and other carp which all stuck to the vent. I had a complete sense of humour failiure and the whole lot went in the bin and the original vent went back on the landrover
  12. I was planning to buy a GKN Overdrive for my 110 but after them stopping manufacture I am probably going to give it a miss. As much as I would still like one spending £1000 on something that has moving parts that can wear and possibly be hard to replace is worrying. I kind of missed out as I could have maybe got an employee discount, too late now though.
  13. I think I read somewhere that you have to fit a Double Cardon front prop to clear the sump with a 2" lift on a Puma
  14. I got a Scangauge for Christmas and its a really nice piece of kit except it doesnt work on a TD5 The OBDII port on a TD5 isnt completely standard so any device you plug into it you must make sure its compatible. Its a shame really as the scangauge is a really nice simple unit. I cleared the engine management light on my bosses Passat earlier in the week in about 2 minutes having never used it before. I guess the only option for querying the ECU is Nanocom and I am guessing thats not going to look very prett stuck to your dash. Ben
  15. Was watching an old Top Gear on Dave the other night with Gordon Ramsey and he suggested wrapping them in cling film and Clarkson mentioned people quirting expanding foam into them in Holland or something. I think our cameras are sealed units over here though.
  16. When I first got my 90 with a 2" lift there was so much vibration it was horrible on the motorway. Once I got a Disco 2 Double Cardon front prop fitted it made it like a different vehicle to drive. Cranked arms can make a big difference to road manners but really what you need to do with the lift will depend on your vehicle and you.
  17. Surely if it's this new the main stealer will look at it for free?
  18. Hope some more pics get posted. I wanted to come down today and have a look but went to test a prospective Land Rover purchase Ben
  19. From what I have heard and read it has always been the opposite, that the rear locker makes the biggest difference. I am guessing that a lot of this is because you need to avoid using the locker when the wheels aren't straight which is much tougher on an axle that steers I am sure there are people on here with more experience who can confirm/deny. Ben
  20. Lets be fair though anything south west of taunton is Banjo country
  21. Whatever I plan to do in the end I think I will check with insurers first as I guess a lot of insurers would now be sniffy about non eu stamped bumpers. Having done extensive reading up on this and finding out very little I noticed that the ARB bumper confirms to Australian regulations but I dont know how these compare to EU rules.
  22. I am a good 4 miles clear between Bridgwater and Highbridge. Which side are you? Are you now QuantocksHobbit? Ben
  23. I want at least 2 mars bars Paul!
  24. Yeah I think I remember seeing you and some of your mates there, I only went the once but was funny to see all the Heartcliffe kids rolling the shagged out Diahatsu's they came in. Think was one of the guys you were with? Ben
