  1. I have to admit that I did go and hassle our firewall team at work, and went and tried an external connection just to make sure... still any excuse to give the firewall guys hassle!
  2. I've not seen it suggested so far, and I would have thought Ralph would have checked too, but have you checked that your wheels all have the same offset? It may just by one odd wheel that is causing it to stick out more? You said you had modulars, and they are available in a couple of different offsets... just a thought Mark
  3. Basically, I am still on the lookout for a 3 door shell that is in my budget... then I can get on with it...
  4. I suspect you will find it is GD4x4 that is cur into it - as in GoldDigger 4x4, which is indeed Carl. Certainly my front one has GD4x4 in, and I am very pleased with it!
  5. Cheers Tony, I'll give them a call. after asking the question, I had a look on eBlag, and found these people selling all sorts of good and useful stuff : autoperformanceonline thought it was worth posting.. Mark
  6. Anyone know a supplier of Stainless pipe bends? I need a 45 degree bend in 2.5" od pipe....
  7. Another reason for studs is where the material being screwed into is prone to wear from repeated application (ie screwing in and out into an aluminium casting). Using a stud means that it stays in place and the nut and stud take the wear rather than the ally. hth Mark
  8. tbh I thought you could just list the names with a comma or a semicolon, but that dosn't seem to work.... I think I have been known to resort to copy and paste too in tha past.
  9. Mark, I have the black version of that tool box and having loaded it up with spanners and sockets I felt that the top handle wasn't really up to it, so I fitted one of these to each end: They are only riveted on, but they are holding up very well, and don't show any signs of coming loose. It makes moving it so much easier! Cheers Mark
  10. John, there are plenty of comments on here about the halfords tool boxes, pretty much all of them positive! I have a red hafords box and a black pro one. The BB slides are really nice, and worth the cash for heavy stuff (spanners, sockets etc) which I keep in the black one. The red one has lighter stuff in, and tbh it is still very good. Do a search for halfords, and you should dig up some more info....
  11. Just to echo what Jen said, We did exactly the same nikon vs Canon stood in jessops and played with them. The nikon won for us - it's personal taste.
  12. It's for taking pictures of Land Rovers - quite obvious really... :P
  13. I would be inclined to ask the same questions... To do photos for your website the compact cameras are probably far more suited to what you are after. I would be inclined to buy based on the quality of the optics - I have an olympus 3.2 meg camera that I bought 6 years ago and is still excellent, takes superbly crisp photo's, and I still have to shrink the pictures down to about 33% of thier original size to get them to 800x600. If you are not planning to use the full features of a DSLR then it is probably not worth spending that sort of money. If however you do still want a DSLR, I would go for a Nikon... having been a pentax man since I was 12, the pentax digital wasn't cutting it, so I now have the Nikon D50 (sadly no longer available) and it is excellent. probably not much help though, Mark
  14. Southdown sell lengths of snorkel tubing on eBlag. Might be worth a look...
  15. Ryan, it's a kind offer, I may well take you up on it... Carl, That's a good link too... cheers
  16. Has anyone found a good supplier of airline fittings online? I am after industrial type fittings for installing the an air compressor in the discovery but can't seem to find anywhere with the sort of stuff I am after. I know I could go and find hyphose or pirtek, but I can't seem to find any locally that I can get to during thier opening hours. Specifically I am after a 1/4 BSP female to male bulkhead fitting... (Male to male might also work) Cheers Mark
  17. From what I have seen the safari snorkel requires the airbox to be moved over but I am not sure that is possible with my air flow meter where it is...
  18. Too wide without modding the arches. 245/75-16 on disco steels is pretty much it without mods. A slight nip on the back corner of the arch (do a search on camel cut) will see some more clearence though. hth Mark
  19. Like this? Looks good... don't seem to be any on eBay at the moment though.... anyone got one spare?
  20. Pete, As you say, probably more than I really want to pay, and the EDC works well at the moment (desperately grabbing something wooden...). Cheers for investigating airbox material. I did wonder whether a new top could be made - or even just moving the outlet on the top over to the middle of the box... Will have to investigate further. Cheers Mark
  21. Mo, I tried nicking the airbox off the White disco, but I can't mount it in such a way that it lines up with the AFM, and the bonnet closes. Gneral layout, in case it helps - lots of other gubbins in the way! been investigating several options around airboxes and snorkels, but so far nothing quite works.... Mark
  22. Steve, yep it's an Auto.... I have pretty much come to the same conclusion - that I need to see what other airboxes I can get to fit. I robbed the one off my 200 tdi, but couldn't really get it to fit well.... To be fair the snorkel is a means to an end (see my thread on ='how much air), so waterproofness isn't a massive concer at the moment. All I really want is a decent cold air feed... Cheers Mark
  23. In my quest to get enough space to fit a second battery into my 300 tdi doscovery, I have cleared out the front nearside corner to give me enough space to get a bettery in. In doing this, I have had to remove the cold air duct from the inner wing to the airbox: I have also rerouted some wiring and the vacuum pipe to the pump for the cruise control as you can see. Up till now, I have been thinking along the lines of fitting a snorkel in order to get a decent cold air feed, however, with a battery in place, I am wondering if i could get away with a simpler solution? (The battery is not hard up against the inner wing) If I were to modify the intake on the airbox to shroud the engine side, and to decrease the restriction on the side nearest the inner wing, would this draw in sufficient cold air or would it still be drawing heat soaked air from the engine bay? Opinions greatly appreciated. NB it's a 96 TDI with EDC and a high flow intercooler... Cheers Mark
