  1. Very kind of you martin, most appreciated, but since I will be there I will go halves with you! some other mod edited my post they will most likely want to contribute too
  2. I would go for the '02 plate myself. Our '03 plate loses a little bit of water, but dosn't seem to be suffering form HGF from all the tests I have given it. £2k for a car 4 years newer seems good to me, and the prop/VC and diff etc are all there. depends whether he wants to go for 3 or 5 doors I guess. I like the 3 door (and want another one ), so I'm biased... Mark
  3. Jamie, I have a feeling that I have one, but I will have to check tonight... will let you know if you haven't already found one. Mark
  4. I got my liscence pre jan 1997 (oct '96 to be precise) but they keep taking stuff off it cos I am diabetic. As I have got older I have been able to drive less and less! The irony is, I cannot now hire a 7.5T truck or even a transit, but I can drive a fully braked 110 with a train weight of 6.5T.... </off topic rant>
  5. Dave, glad to hear you will be back in business soon. I have nothing but praise for turners - they sorted me out a head for my 300 off the shelf, and were exceedingly friendly about the whole deal. Even gave me a tour of the workshop
  6. Either weekend is good for me
  7. Dave, asking would be good, let me know if he wants it to go for a new and worthy life Cheers Mark
  8. There are a couple of rear winch installs detailed on here, so it is worth doing a search and seeing what you can find.
  9. Incidentally, the genuine pump was only around £45 when I did mine, so that would be a good option. I can also second making sure you do the P gasket at the same time... Mark
  10. As Mr Monster has said - depends on the year of your Discovery... The k-plate disco I had was a 10spline rear axle, so yes, that should fit fine - best to count the splines on the end of the halfshaft to be sure tho. Mark
  11. Dave, is it a 3 door or a 5 door? cos I am after a broken 3 door, if he does decide to get rid... Mark
  12. I would say 4 comfortably as a dead lift. 2 of you can move it about though rather than straight lift it, but I only know as 2 of us did on saturday....
  13. I would second freeagents comment, particularly since I didn't replace my p-gasket when I did the pump, and now it is leaking like a leaky thing, so I have to have it all apart again. I think I took the viscous fan off anyway, just to give room to work. It's not difficult to get off or on again afterwards. Mark
  14. Pete, Thanks for the pics, are you sure I can't convince you??? Did you have to cut the inner wing? Mine dosn't seem to have the large hole through like the 200 does... I had a look at a td5 defender airbox today, and it seems to have al the holes in the right places, so I am going to try and see if I can make one of those fit.... Cheers Mark
  15. Chris, sounds good. stick me on the list please. ta Mark
  16. As Pete pointed out, I have a 300 auto with EDC, although the EGR gubbins has mostly been removed now. The washer tank relocation suggestion is welcome, what I don't what to do is to have to take out a second mortgage to pay for the cable runs for the winch from the back of the truck.... I will have an investigate around the washer tank area, as that may help bring the weight into the centre of the truck. Pete, if you fancy making another airbox however... Cheers Mark
  17. The Difflock ones are very good.
  18. Bought an intercooler top pipe from them via eBlag - good price and delivered next day, so really can't complain at all.
  19. I want to fit a 2nd Battery to my 300TDI disco, but wondered if you chaps had any thoughts.... I am no stranger to fitting 2nd batteries, and had a very neat install in my 200TDI: Ideally I want the battery in the 300 in the same place, but there are a number of things in the way: The EGR switch - can be removed since I have binned the EGR valve Some pipework and Electrics - not a huge issue The cold air duct from the inner wing to the airbox - hmmm Has anyone found a good way to move this ducting? The only way I can see is to fit a safari style snorkel which enters the airbox through the side (I believe) thus getting rid of the need for the duct. But this is quite an expensive way to go I feel... I know some have mounted their battery in the back, but up front is the ideal place as it has short cable runs from the alternator, and eventual winch. However, any suggestions would be appreciated... Ta Mark
  20. I have one for my 300TDI disco, and I can't fault it. The main reason I can't fault it is cos I haven't fitted it yet, but it looks superb! probably even less helpful than bish... Mark

  22. Darren, if you do a similar thing in the roof with the shelf, I would be really interested to see some more pictures of it. Cheers Mark
  23. do you mean 150A or 150W? either way you are well out for a hair dryer... You will be looking at 1500 to 2000W for a hairdryer, and if you want to plug that into an inverter, you will be looking at quite a large (read expensive) inverter. Also given that inverters are not even close to 100% efficient, you will be loading your battery even more... I would either forget about hairdryers, or look at specific travel ones.... Mark
