  1. Thats what i have in mine, and it's fine. I would be looking to pay about £50 ex vat for the panel, so that sounds about right.
  2. I also just fitted a gold digger one to my disco - if you have an Auto, you will need to modify either the bumper, or the gearbox oil cooler pipework. However, the bumper is excellent, fits well, and Carl is a nice bloke to deal with on the phone too. hth Mark
  3. Oooh, outings to adastral park??? you get all the exciting destinations John....
  4. cos there's one for sale here....
  5. It was indeed DarthDicky, but you would be better contacting his brother Jon W as richard is halfway round the globe at the moment.... Cheers Mark
  6. Ally can be cast must easier - but whether they are cast cos they are ally or they are ally so they can be cast is a whole nother question Cast is good for volumne production, but less so for one offs... Steel has a much smaller thermal expansion co-efficient - about half. Which would answer why not to use aluminum for an exhaust manifold (apart from the exhaust temperature > Alluminum melting point issue). Can't see why you shouldn't use stainless though... not much help I am afraid, Mark
  7. here's an 8074 in a discovery: doesn't stick out very far either: The bumper is actually a scrapiron one, modified to take my 8074. it could be up for sale if you were interested... Mark
  8. I would probably be inclided to fit the pins where they were going, then put a blob of paint on each one, and close the bonnet onto them. This marks the underside of the bonnet, allowing you to drill a single hole, big enough for the pin to come through. Assuming you have the templates, these can then be marked up with the pin centreline, if it is not already, and the layout transferred to the bonnet (sharpie markers are your friend...) How to cut it? I would probably use 2 hole saws, and join resulting holes with the jigsaw.... hth Mark
  9. Jamie, they look a lot like steering pumps... I am reasonably sure Simon is asking about gearboxes???
  10. Sorry to go O/T but do you have any more pictures of your brake like protectors Dave? Thanks Mark
  11. The sticky steering can be caused by the UJ's in the steering linkage needing replacing, or at least lubricating. I get this with my Discovery after it has been through deepish water, as the UJ's then clag up. I find a dowsing in WD40 will clear them out, and then some spray grease keeps them good untill the next dunking! At some point they really need replacing though... Mark
  12. No, as in 'Yes please, Les, thank you very much'... :P
  13. difflock do quite a good line in nitrile gloves... Mark
  14. Now, zuz, I know you are not only protoprincess, but also queen of logisitcs, but even I know that the tow car needs to be somewhat closer to the thing needing towing than that... Basingstoke? Finland? That's one hell of a tow rope.... :P Good to hear it made it through! started taking mine apart last night Good to hear everyone is back!
  15. I thought Mouse was supposed to be on the back of your disco zuz? it seems strangely absent, or did you already come back in it?
  16. There are a couple of good photo walk through threads in the Tech Archive on removing and refitting the transfer box. From personal experience, there isn't an easy way as such, and it's even less easy if you have to do it on your own.... so find a friend Mark
  17. I was chatting to him on Friday, following Jules passing the contact on. blimey...
  18. Incidentally, I know of a reasonable nice clean swb pajero close to me if anyone is interested...
  19. Oi, back to finding me a freelander please chaps! and no sniping me on floda's on eblag either!! :P
  20. And it's still wearing the pajero plate perchance??? Nice bit of work though, looks really intentional...
  21. also Series 2a studs are a different diameter (and thread) to a defender. Series 3 are the same though...
  22. Thanks for the responses chaps... having sold the DC front prop I had kicking about and got rid of several scrap diffs, I guess I need to go shopping.... typical.
  23. Yep, that is precisely the sort of thing! Only I want a 3 door.... Got any more pictures? particularly of the build up... body mounts, bulkhead/tunnel arangement? Cheers Mark
  24. I have fitted the 2" lift suspension off my white 200TDI manual disco onto my green 300TDI auto disco... and I now get a vibration through the vehicle whic wasn't there before. My initialt thoughts are that the propshaft UJs need some attention, but I also wonder if the length of the prop on this engine/gearbox combintation was an issue when combined witha 2" lift? Anyone else had propshaft issues on a 300 Auto? Cheers Mark
