  1. good luck Kristian! i hope the 110 doesnt break anything this time out! Have fun, Tim.
  2. env front axle or one of the new santana front axles from a breaker if you can find one smashed. youll be able to upgrade the internals to ashcroft and you get disc breaks all ready to bolt onto (i think.) leaf springs. i dont know why the still used leaf springs on the snatana but, they do.
  3. they move the shock up 2" and forwards. the whole kit works very well imo.
  4. just been looking at ebay and found this, it looks cheap for whats on it. ebay
  5. have you tried fitting the standard 2.25 engine mounts to the block? i know on a 200 they fit and the series chassis mounts fit the engine. I not sure what 300 blocks are like but if you can bolt the mounts to the engine then it would be easier to move the standard series engine mount on the chassis rail and retain your clearence.
  6. i use a bushwacker from polly bush. slow but works.
  7. so to quantify this thread, 'at the end of the day, its a landrover, and a 300 tdi, it could be anything!'
  8. although its carp i admit, its not as bad as my mate gwain's cage, built from scafolding tube, not notched and only welded where he could get to (the outer faces of the tube) with nicly deformed section of tube where the pipe bender crushed the pipe instead of bending it! some people whould really take notice of the saying 'if you cant, DONT'
  9. Your front salisbury is a standard 110 front salibury. The ones with AP discs and calipers were from Armoured Humber Pigs used in northern Ireland.
  10. is this guy having a laugh? he thinks the head lining in his 2A is as it left the factory? its looks like old ply board to me! On ebay
  11. is the wine a bad thing? i know obviously its not good but will incorrect mesh/wear cause the diff to fail in a catastropic way?
  12. well, this seems to be a hel of a thread. considering it a 300 tdi and theres planty about, you may as well ahve bought a second hand one, stripped it, reconditioned it and put an engine in! Speaking of which ive got a 200 tdi defender engine which im open to any reasonable offer on.........
  13. go and be the winch man for someone. youll learn alot, get stuck right in the thick of it and get a real feel if its what you want to do. ive only been once as winch man and once just to help out in anyway i could and it was awesome. Hopefully ill have my ibex ready enough for a stab at the standard class this summer.
  14. go in search of pipes on scrap vehicles, 300 tdis have loads of pipes on them that can be cut down/made to fit. when i did my series 200 conversion i used all standard 200 tdi disco pipes and it worked a treat.
  15. PH Horn tool and insets are amazing imo but very expensive. having the tool set to centre height or just below is crutial to surface finish.
  16. Tom is a legend, the amount of things weve done there one motocross trips are unbeliveable. I really hope he can continue in someway as its one of the only places ive been where you dont get any hassle, just pay your money and get on with it.
  17. and when you see one go in a burst test i doubt youd stand so close to one. at work when they do destructive testing and one lets go big time theres usually bits of turbo embedded 6 inch into the walls of the test bed! The doors on each test cell is 2 foot thick!
  18. is it a real on of was it made in china?
  19. its a night mare! ive got a good broker so long as you dont want to insure you vehicle for big money. i tried to buy a 90 with loads of modes etc and declare them all and insure the vehicle for 8k, but this seems a huge problem, no insurance company want you to go off roading in a car worth 8 k and they wont insure it third part f+t! if you want cheap insurance, buy a series 3 or an early 90, insure it for no more than 2k and have a limited milage policy. My brokers are frank pickles, they do kit car insurance (ideal for ibexs) and off road insurance for your average play toy 90. For 12 months it cost me 400 quid with any mods so long as the vehicles value is less than 5k and there a limited milage. im 22 which i think isnt bad considering.
  20. is there camping? if i get Mr Ts 90, i might come along!
  21. in my series 3 or 90 id get plenty of waves and nods but with the ibex it was less so, and normally anyone who waved was driving a modified 90.
  22. i had some from another maker off ebay and they snapped. imo, save some more money up and buy them from QT services or devon 4x4. yes they will be more expensive but you can be sure they will be right and tested befor being sold. Tim.
  23. that drawing doesnt state the position of the gear box cross member. thanks though.
  24. buy a 2 speed curved blade fan from a breaker off an old volvo like: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VOLVO-S70-V70-850-C7...%3A1|240%3A1318
