Arjan
Right, as the Hybrid's build is very slowely progressing, another project just arrived. I need to fit a 300 Ex. disco with ZF mounted to it into a 110 with a to be rebuild 300 Tdi. Obviously, the flywheel needs to be replaced as the 110 is a manual one. The injector pump on the "new to me engine" is drive by wire. Am I right in thinking I can swop the top bit on the injector pump to make it drive by cable ? I think so, but if not, you could swap the pumps over.
Tobias
Please elaborate! Which bits to swap over to convert an EDC pump to mechanical? Thanks! Tobias

Mudmonkey
I'm currently swapping a 300tdi EDC to mechanical although keeping the auto. The pumps are completely different so have to be swapped as a unit. The injectors and steel pipes are also different. There's a good post on the swap here. elbekko
Wait what? I remember a throttle position sensor on the EDC 300TDi, but drive by wire?

That's what it means - electronic throttle rather than mechanical.

I only remember a throttle cable with a TPS on top of it. Hence my question, was there a 300TDi without a throttle cable but with an actuator? Bowie69
Yes, I think so, the TPS version was the EGR-equipped vehicles, and then the EDC is the pump fitted to auto Discos, which you can 'tune' with a 'chip', so must do more than just have a TPS: https://www.allisport.com/shop/performance-products/tuning-units/allisport-electronic-tuning-unit-for-discovery-300-tdi-edc-models/ (Not a recommendation, just showing!) They also have a MAF: https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/162597477502?chn=ps&adgroupid=47842945425&rlsatarget=pla-380312380491&abcId=1129946&adtype=pla&merchantid=113383971&poi=&googleloc=9045660&device=c&campaignid=974959912&crdt=
elbekko
Interesting, never knew that, thanks!
Snagger
Yep. My RRC has an EGR equipped 300Tdi - it has a sensor, seemingly like a potentiometer, fitted over the throttle quadrant and wired to the EGR solenoid. It has nothing to do with commanding throttle positions; it just commands the solenoid to close the EGR valve as the throttle is opened.
