Mobile phone holder in a series

Could you pick up the Front or back of the screw to the right of your boost gauge?  It would be quite a natural place to glance to - and very convenient for charging. There should be an angle you could have where it wouldn’t obstruct your switches at all.

That's what I've got in mind, picking up the mirror mounts.

It's the wobble that bothers me.

It's going to be a clever bracket. I've just got to choose a holder, one in aluminium, I think.

If you form a plate with a fold either side there should be very little wobble.

I was thinking that, and if it presses against the stereo housing, under a bit of tension, it should be quite solid.

Yes.  I am.

I've also sprayed the dash in silicone oil.

Ain't NOTHIN sticking to that!

I really like a solidly held phone when driving; nothing worse than the damn thing falling on the floor as one goes around some roundabout designed by one of nonimnouses crayon eating colleagues, whilst one is using Google maps to decipher the appropriate exit

Some random photos of the build. Including use of CAD.

And precise measurements.

Many of them.

No freehand whatsoever.

One thing that did work was to stuff the wallet bit of the phone case into the vent above the binacle (phone removed to take photo).

I bought this motorbike phone holder thing, chineseum, but it might last.

Crucially, the claws don't press any important buttons.

Various bits of scrap were rejected, but eventually I decided to use some old galv sheet to start from.

Lots of inept hammering later it started to shape up.

I've yet to road and off road test, but it's very solid, so should be no bounce.

If only I could figure out how to get the phone to auto unlock when pairing with the stereo, it would be nearly perfect.

But Xiaomi don't allow this.
