mart010
Hi, ordered a new master cylinder today. I’ve tried to get the old one running. Did renew the inside callipers and springs. But my job was not a good one. Everytime I tried to bleed my lines, after some time, the new calipers got stuck in the metal casing. My bad. So, ordered a new one today. Just out of curiosity, anybody know how to make an old, bit rusty, cylinder running again? What tools can be used to make the the wall on the inside smooth enough? thanks! mart010
Ok, did the honing. Smooth surface now. Also did the sides of the metal parts that go into the tube. Will see how it works after some time. will keep the new parts on the shelf for now
mart010
Update. The parts inside the master brake cylinder got stuck again. The new master cylinder and brake servo arrived just in time. Installed all parts and bled the lines. Perfect for now.

johnseries
Hello I have an 88" series that I have put a 200tdi in and 11" drum brakes front and back. I need to fit a new brake master cylinder would a NRC6096 be correct for this application.
steve b
That is the dual circuit S3 master cyl. which will fit early servo (single circuit) too. Steve
johnseries
Thanks Are you saying that this master cylinder will be correct for the larger 11" brakes.
steve b
According to the factory parts book I have, that M/C is both 88 and 109, so yes Steve

JohnnoK
The best for a cylinder will be having it bored out and a stainless steel liner fitted to it and then machine it to size again. Honing a corroded cylinder works for a while, but the seals never last long in my experience.
Anderzander
Or got to one of the re conditioners - like these guys: www.powertrackbrakes.co.uk which seems a better option that the aftermarket stuff - I had lots of problems with new cylinders being poor quality.
