wettstuff Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Just a quick one for the grown ups in the know, after getting my 110 back yesterday after some toe rag thought it would be a good idea to nick it. I went to pick it up minus a bumper. Now obviously they are fitted for a reason but i just wondered about the lagality(sp) of driving around without a bummper. I have sorted a standard one to replace the winch bumper but cant get it till saturday. Is this likely to be an issue with plod? Thanks for any info about this matter Mark Quote
rtbarton Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 The chassis ends will be regarded as dangerous projections. At least wrap a sack full of rags round them if nothing else, but even so you may be inviting a tug. Quote

Exmoor Beast Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 A mate has just MOT'd his 110 without a bumper fitted, tester never mentioned it apparently. Will Quote
dantd5 Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Potruding edges over this end is classified as dangerous! In the case of Land rover, it looks more like a fork lift and in case of an accident, one easily knifes into the other car. I will cover it up for the time being!! Quote

landroversforever Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 I thought when it was talked about before... the rounded edges had enough of a radius? Quote
roguevogue Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I know someone who fitted a piece of 4x2 with long jubilee clips through the bolt holes. Paint it black and hope to avoid the wood worm. Quote

What a spiffing idea! Jubilee clips seem a bit OTT though, I'd go for zip ties myself. Do you think 18mm WBP Ply would be ok to mount a Husky winch? Will Quote

Yostumpy Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Concrete or wood? Oh please dont be silly, this is a SERIOUS discusion. The weight of a concrete one would upset the finely tuned balance of the landrover. Quote
landmannnn Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 You could always chop of the front dumbirons flush. (quietly in case the sva police spot you) Quote
landroversforever Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 well any variation of a defender has a rather blunt front end! wouldn't like to be hit by one with or without a bumper! Quote
