KKMobile
Got one of these myself! Had it for 2 years now. Does exactly what it should do & no rust showing through yet
Tris Cocks
I have upgraded to heavy duty steering rods rather than go for a steering guard as they tend to act as a snow plough in my eyes.
jbs
I've got both-as I tend to over engineer things and I like the belt and braces approach
Anderzander
My recommendation would be don't bother and just fit the heavy duty rods. If you drive in mud they act like a plough - they don't protect the track rod from impact, often the drag link can still be impacted behind the back edge - and they offer no protection to the rods of course from impacts on the wheels. Mo Murphy
Morning chaps, many thanks for your replies. What I'm actually looking for is experience of front guards for the drag link and steering damper and I didn't make that clear in my first post, doh! Going without is a no-no, I've walloped this area to many times in the past So, what looks good, what's well engineered, what fits a treat, whats incredibly strong, whats competitively priced ? Tell me whats good and help me avoid spending money on carp I already have a track rod guard and the old track rod has been replaced with a sumo bar. fender1234
Ive got rebel 4x4 guard http://www.rebel4x4.co.uk/steering_guards.htm i like it, looks ok, has protected well, sturdy and seems to be the cheapest available so cant complain
Retroanaconda
Mine is a Rebel 4x4 guard as well. Only thing I don't like about it is the word Rebel on it. But other than that it seems strong enough, used it enough times
Bowie69
Mo, I have a Southdown one here, small bend in it but reinforced by Lord Bish, that I am looking to get rid of, make me an offer if interested
Orgasmic Farmer
Ian at West Mids 4x4 makes a nice looking one which has certainly been competition proven. Steering Guard
RustyNissanPrairie
I've got a Genuine LR Wolf/Tombraider/Protection&Performance bash guard, absolutely brilliant solid peice of kit but quite heavy. Also had a Mantec which was nice as well but probably not quite as bulletproof as the Wolf one above.
