Quagmire
See here: Megajolt install But basically I got my stuff from these places: EDIS8 module and "pigtail"- ebay.com EDIS coilpacks- ebay.co.uk VR sensor- ebay.co.uk Megajolt kit- www.autosportlabs.com Trigger wheel, VR sensor bracket, and new connectors for coilpacks- triggerwheels.com or is it .co.uk?) Assorted wire- Dad's garage. *edit Price for the MJ kit was not much- about £65 with shipping I think last time? Will vary tho based on strength (or lack of) of the pound. andy2986
Also you could drop Nige a PM (hybrid from hell) He has just started a megasquirt company, even though you're only after megajolt a lot of the bits you need brackets/coil packs/trigger wheels etc are the same plus he is a jolly helpful chap when you need ignition maps.. ThreeSheds
If you put your location on your profile you might find that someone with experience of these conversions lives nearby...
ricky tango
a word of warning (before starting to put a companies name in dirt) this was a problem i encountered bought a complete trigger wheels kit with all the new items options ticked and ever since i fitted it it missed when it got wet ive fitted a mates sourced from second hand parts and that was spot on and both mine and his were identical installs so i started to investigate and ive found the as new coilpacks from trigger wheels are pattern parts and where there liquid filled around the lead towers there not filled enough allowing water to the contacts under the tower which a is a problem in its self but then the next problem is that the ford coil pack by design has a lip around all 4 towers on a coil pack this then creates ponding in the top of the pack and the towers start shorting the other problem i had was i could actually turn the towers spinning them with a little force this in itself shows the towers are not correctly bonded to the resin in the pack ive fitted two second hand packs 1 ford 1 motorcraft and there spot on . ive jet washed the packs to death and not even a hickup (the original packs missed with a spray or two from a garden centre squirty bottle
Hybrid_From_Hell
I Fink Motorcraft are in some way "Ford" ? I agree that the genuine ford and Motorcraft coilpacks seem VVV Good ecven secondhand and that some pattern stuff is absolute junk (I had one on mine and it drove me mental working out the prob - in the end I sussed it, it seemed to break down when it got vvv hot ?) anyway, did you complain to Trigger wheels / let them know re this issue and give them a chance to resolve as your post is somewhat "They is **** " sort of thing ? No company or individuals get it right akll the time, sometimes a call is all thats needed to resolve ? Nige

No company or individuals get it right akll the time, sometimes a call is all thats needed to resolve ? Nige To back up what Nige says above: I bought some shielded cable and vacuum hose from Trigger Wheels. I ordered 3m of each, they sent 2.7 and 2.8m lengths. My immediate thought was along the lines of 'p**s taking barstewards'. Anyway, a quick email to them produced an almost instant and very apologetic response. Their explanation was that they are normally quite generous with lengths supplied, and must have mistakenly thought they should be cutting a metre less than I had asked for. They offered to replace these with the correct lengths, and I could hang on the the original delivery. What turned up was around half a metre on top of the lengths ordered too. Now as much as their mistake was a bit of a pain because I couldn't get on with the install that weekend, I thought their remedial actions were quite satisfactory, and dealt with in a pleasant manner. So, thumbs up to TW.
zoltan
On the subject of pattern coil packs, one of the trade mags had some interesting X rays of genuine and pattern coil packs to show exactly what goes on inside within the depths of the epoxy potting. Whereas the genuine coils were carefully and properly soldered and carefully positioned, the X rays of some, not all, of the pattern ones were quite scary: real Friday afternoon/Monday morning jobs with all manner of random spaghetti seemingly chucked in. Of course from the outside the epoxy looks perfect inside they were just waiting to let you down like a cheap pair of tights. These would be those 'new' coils that you buy cheap but in good faith that confound all logic and give nothing but aggro.
ricky tango
hi guys no as i said i wasn't shaming them i was merely saying as the guarentee there second hand units which are motrcraft / ford units save your money with them and get the second hand ones i will phone them tomorrow and see what they do a pair of gen spares wouldn't be bad , as these gen packs arent actually mine
Hybrid_From_Hell
just waiting to let you down like a cheap pair of tights Ahem some sort of 'alternate hobby' one wants to own up to then Mr Zoltan Sir ? Nige
ricky tango
Just spoke to tw and they'd like my units back and have offered replacements. I don't know whether this means they'll look in to the matter on the pattern packs but as said before if buying ther kit save some money and get the second hand gen ones even the clips on the leads stay clipped without the need for pull ties on the gen packs, the patterns wouldn't

mickeyw
If you have a local breakers yard, they can yield some perfectly good 2nd hand units. I managed to grab 4 coil packs with plugs, and a few sets of leads from Fiestas & Escorts for just £30. The price seems to vary depending on whether the scrappy knows what people want them for. I found a mixture of Ford and Motorcraft branded units, they're all the same thing. The place I went to had plenty of suitable cars but many had been previously robbed of such parts. Must be quite a few Squirters in my area
