cackshifter
I'd check your fluid level; it sometimes feels soft if short of fluid. Nigel
Maverik
Also have a look in the resovoir for any black sediment at the bottom etc, could be a sign your seals are unhappy.

western
either leaked out around the master cylinder end seal/dust cover & run down the pedal arm or leaked from slave cylinder into the bell housing.
fekete
Western no leaks around the pedal it must be the slave cylinder end thanks for all your help...I'll let you know how i get on
Les Henson
When you remove the slave cylinder - don't just pull it away from the flywheel housing when you unbolt it. If the actuating rod comes out - you have a big problem. The rod has to stay in place when you remove the slave, so be careful. Les.
fekete
Thanks Les i'm not the best with vehicle as you might already know lol....Is it an easy job or should i get someone with a bit more knowledge.....I mean i'm s**t ....but willing to try
cackshifter
As you'll probably read on here, master & slave tend to fail together so might pay you to change both and do get a decent brand of parts or you'll be doing it again in a few months. Disco-Ron
What,................ what a stupid design change then, for something which they should know fails regularly..!! On my 300, the master cylinder started dripping on the floor one day, i fitted a brand new cyclinder the next day, 2 drives later the slave went, changed that, then a day later the actual clutch started slipping cos of the fluid (i guess) in the bellhousing..... it could just be a fluke........ so guess what, i fitted a new clutch on saturday, 7hrs start to finish, engine out and back in,....... Aragorn
Its a pretty standard design for modern cars tbh. Saves having pushrods, arms and other bits, just nail the slave directly inside the box. You'll probably find the ZF box in the D3 and L322 uses the same style of slave too.
Retroanaconda
In modern vehicles they rarely ever fail, so it's probably a good idea in that respect. Unfortunately Land Rovers have the impressive ability to make even normally reliable components fail at a much higher frequency. The normal slave cylinder arrangement is pretty good in my view, at least it's simple to change (in terms of major component removal, not fiddly-ness!) Les Henson
Known as a concentric clutch - these are very common nowadays. A damned-sight more expensive than a normal thrust bearing though. Les.
fekete
Right Guys i thought i'd keep you updated on this slave cylinder...LR have agreed to give 50% off fitting the new slave ? JAMES EDWARDS CHESTER want £780 all in. independent £280 all in.... you work out the sums its cheaper for me to pay an independent in full than go halves with LR robin T...s

fekete
I here what you are saying but the independent i use i have a lot more confidence in them than the main dealer i use..... and there warranty will last the same time. Thanks for your advice tho
