jagwit
Has anyone fitted a Disco1 (facelift) dash to a RR Classic? If so, I would like to hear about the major issues you encountered in this process.
dirtyninety
It shouldn't be too difficult. im guessing you mean like this http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/classic-range-rover-vogue-lse-soft-dash-brooklands-bodykit-lpg-1994/110979196
jagwit
Yep, similar to that but pulled out a Disco1. That Rangie dash is the so-called "soft-dash" that only the very last ones came with.
task
I saw one for sale on leboncoin, a French site a bit like Gumtree, that had a disco 300 day grafted in. Was a 92 2 door, looked like an interesting conversion.
bishbosh
IIRC the bulkheads have some significant differences that make it challenging to do, but a grown up will be along shortly to advise if this sacrilege is possible or not
Bowie69
RRC Hard dash is the only way IMHO. Though I do prefer the 89-> one though, probably just due to familiarity
q-rover
I know someone that did it. Not straight forward, but doable. I'll try and dig up some information.
elbekko
Should be fairly straightforward to do in a softdash, but then I'd just keep the softdash...
geoffbeaumont
I bought a soft-dash dashboard when I had my classic, with the intention of fitting this, which I'd guess would be a pretty similar operation (the soft-dash was fundamentally the same as a 300Tdi disco dash, just with better surface materials and slightly different fittings). As far as I'm aware the disco bulkhead didn't change between 200Tdi and 300Tdi - but I'm not at all certain about this? I never actually got round to fitting it, but there are difference in the brackets on the bulkhead, were cooling and air-con pipes are routed through the bulkhead and major difference in the wiring loom (you can't just unplug the old connectors and plug the new ones in - they're different and in different locations). I can't recall anything else I worked out. It's doable but a fair bit of work. Why a 200Tdi dash? If I was going to all that effort I'd go for the 300Tdi with a decent heater (or even better a proper rangie soft dash if I could get my hands on one - afraid I sold mine years ago). Then again, I'm not that convinced it's such a big step up from the later hard dashes - looks much more modern, does leak air from the vents all over the place, decent heater, but the ergonomics of the earlier dash are much better... Not sure I could convince myself to do it.
