need4speed Posted March 12, 2013 Share Posted March 12, 2013 Does anyone know if there is a tool available to remove the terminals/wires from defender fuseboard? The terminals are like the type ive shown. Ive tried using tiny screwdrivers but no joy. I dont want to break anything. Ive already chewed one. Thankfully it was an unused wire! Does the plastic housing have a small slot down one side? ours do and you use a tool which is basically just a narrow bit of shim with a handle to push the tab in on the side. CwazyWabbit Posted March 12, 2013 Share Posted March 12, 2013 You might get away with cutting a thin strip from a food tin can and then bend it to a U shape to get the two pronged idea, make sure you give it a rub with some emery cloth to remove any burrs so it doesn't damage the housing or the terminal...... dave1607 Posted March 12, 2013 Share Posted March 12, 2013 I bought a "special tool" for removing the pins from ISO plugs on car radios once, it was nothing more that a thin flat piece or metal with a handle on the end, it broke after a while so I went back to using a small flat blade screwdriver. I would just use the smallest screwdriver you have and just be careful not to break the tabs, in my experience the "special tools" aren't that special. Ive been persevering but im just going to end up breaking something. I just wondered if there was something specific for those terminals.. Nigelw Posted March 12, 2013 Share Posted March 12, 2013 I think the Defender FB is different to the Disco one but I had a right load of aggro and did as suggested I made a tool from the top of an easy open bean can as my small screw drivers didn't work either I did scavenge the old FB from the 300Tdi Disco but it seems different still with the 200Tdi one!
