Can you tell me what this is? (and does?)

Recommended Posts

What on earth is this noise?

I spent a good hour lying underneath my Puma 110 CSW looking for the source of a noise.

See below / elsewhere under "What on earth is this noise?"

Anyway - I found this - and was wondering what it was?

Cheers

Don't worry "This" is not an important part and can be removed from all Land Rovers when found, usually more than one and

always in different locations, some times they can be found next to "That" so as and when you come across them you can happily

discard THIS and THAT knowing that your prize Land Rover will still run (of a sort).

Hope THIS helps?

Cheers Mutley

Fuel cooler, one side of it sits between the fuel regulator and the fuel tank as part of the return circuit. It uses the coolant (other two pipes) to reduce the fuel temperature as it's quite hot when it leaves the cylinder head.

Thanks for that – I've learned 3 things from that exercise

1 How to post images

2 That the ‘thing’ is a fuel cooler (who would have guessed?)

3 I could buy a guard for it – great

– the opportunity to keep spending never seems to pass me ‘buy’

When I look under a Puma I can't help but feel that engine's been bodged in (i know it's from a Transit). The exhaust's on the wrong side, the fuel pipes are on the wrong side, they had to put a "pedestrian safety" bump in the bonnet, and this cooler is waiting to ripped off by debris...

</troll> ;)
