AdeParko
I've replaced the ball joint on my rear A-frame today, but when tightening the 2x long bolts that hold the fulcrum bracket, I managed to strip the threads from the nuts The haynes manual says that they should be torqued to 176nm, but striped the nuts trying to get to this. Can anyone confirm if this is correct? Its now left me in another situation of not having any other 1/2" UNF nyloc nuts to replace them with. Does anyone know of any shops local to the West Lothian area that might stock them? Many thanks Ade
Jaytee
If you cannot find a supplier in the auto industry try aircraft suppliers such as LAS in Devon as the majority of light aircraft are American and use UNF and UNC hardware.
western
176Nm is correct torque setting, any good engineering supplier or one of the LR parts suppliers should be able to sort 2 new nuts http://www.brit-car.co.uk/search.php?xSearch=NY608042 item 13 in http://lrcat.com/#32/4/45236
AdeParko
Thanks for the replies In the diagram linked, it's the nuts as item 19 I've completely stripped the threads out of. Bolts seem ok, but won't know until I try some new nuts I've just come across this on the forum http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=83824 Same symptoms as me, but the replies then suggested it should be fine to 115nm Thanks Ade
Bowie69
Can you get some M10's to fit instead? I think they are very close in size...
JimDay
I thought all the bolts on Disco's are metric but I could be wrong

Nigelw
Mostly the fine threads on the suspension but it is a little bit mix and match under there!!

Anderzander
I'd be tempted to swap out the bolts too ... http://bit.ly/1gkOucn
Boris113
I had the same problem when I tightened my bolts up to 176nm Any local agricultural engineers should have UNF bolts in the desired length. They will probably be cheaper than a landy garage too.
