western
Thought I'd have a go at finding out why my 110's rear wiper wouldn't run, removed from door, wired across a spare battery & it runs [but won't on 110 with wiper blade on the glass] so dismantled the motor part, retained all the bits, got some grease into it via motor shaft hole & park switch hole, so far so good, doing this outside in my driveway [big mistake] popped the armature/shaft back in, then the brushes which have a 'n' shaped spring clip to keep brushes on commutator, got one side in, then spring decides to go for a flying lesson, heard it 'ping' as hit the 110's rear door, can I find it, not a chance disappearded in to bit of garden alongside driveway, moved 110, swept the drive, no sign of the spring, not happy got to buy a new wiper motor tomorrow, this old one's shaft to wiper arm is almost seiezed up, so not a totally loss. my type of motor is No Longer Available [prc4612 - see photo] got to buy the later [300tdi - amr3676] & adapt my wiring to suit the new type of motor. more to come when I get to fit it. Frax
You need to get hold of a metal detector or large magnet, I hate them clips they always make a dash for it. When I fit them and "C" clips I try to cover them with a rag so they don't ping. They are a pain in the rear end.
oneandtwo
The td5/300tdi rear motor is far better than the old one anyway, there's more sealing to prevent water ingress and the spindle housing is plastic to prevent the spindle from rusting to it.

I cant see much out of it when it is clean in the daylight and in the dark all i can see is the reflection of whats in front of me anyway! western
using my original rear wiper harness & with the new connectors, I've made my own conversion harness [same as STC1825 but at a lot less expense, photo 1 below] for the new wiper motor. connected & tested on my 110, it works so happy so far, just waiting on the outer nut, grommet, washers to arrive then I can get it fitted to the rear door. my converted harness fitted to new motor, photo's 2,3,4. western
finished the new rear wiper motor fit today, had to adjust the rear door wiper spindle holes as the new motor shaft is thicker than the old original motor & sort a hole for the motor anti twist screw, straight into door frame. this new motor is a 300tdi item AMR3637. got to source the trim cover & screws, think that'll be a ebay job. PaulMc
If you fit the latest type of rear wiper arm - LR033006 It uses the same wiper blades as the front wipers - DKC000110PMD .

western
the actual bit that fits on wiper motor shaft is the same shape/size as my old wiper arm but different fitting to the blade.
PaulMc
I fitted one of the later arms to my 110, which still has the original 1989 wiper motor. As you say, the newer arm fits without problem. I was having trouble finding the original side-pin rear wiper blades, other than Genuine from a main dealer. .
western
think I had a bit of a search for the last side pin arm luckily my local LR parts outlet had them in stock, so saved the day, next time it'll be easier to replace.
western
new motor has had it's work load increased over the last few days, also obtained the correct trim cover for the motor, but I think I need to re-orientate the assembly to get the cover brackets on the horizontal level, as the cover isn't siting square to the rear window. also a few years ago I bought one of simonb's rear wiper intermittent wipe/wash relay kits, that is still working fine & means the new motor isn't running continuously in bad weather. western
sorted the motor position & trim cover all sat square to the door frame/glass now, so that job is complete.
western
further to the above rear wiper motor swap, is the wiper arm drive spindle able to be removed ? mine seems to be partly seized, it will work but on if moved by hand, will be having another go this week,Oh & I broke the washer above the back door when refiting the nut after making sure it wasn't blocked up, so got to buy a new rear washer jet now,
western
further to the above question, no the wiper spindle & its plastic tube is not easily removeable, the tube is clipped/locked into the metal body, so I'm looking at another motor now cos this on is dead, so off to ebay or ring my local LR parts man in morning to see if he has one in stock. not a very productive afternoon, But I did fit the new rear screen washer jet, so that bits fixed at least. western
wiper motor installed & working, this one is LR part LR078424 it supersedes AMR3676 & it a direct replacement, the small 2 pin connector on this new motor only has one wire + positive to it, but the wiring for the amr3676 motor doesn't need any changes.
