  1. What about the lighter fluid trick?
  2. Well then it is unlikely to be the flywheel. I'd be inclined to go with BMs suggestion first. Try swapping the wheels front to back and see if there's any change.
  3. I've a hardy spicer sitting here for my 91 200tdi. No LR part number on it, but it has HS195 on the box. Has nipples too
  4. Unfortunately many of the big online sites (Machine Mart, RS etc.) don't ship to Ireland but via the magic of Ebay, I've just got myself a portasol Thanks everyone. Happy soldering
  5. Well do the vibrations stop when you dip the clutch?
  6. is the top of the the liner proud of the deck, or recessed? Can't see how thick it is from the pics.
  7. mine is in the bottom hose, though further aft than LMLuke's, to prevent any contact between the sensor and the PAS box.
  8. I obviously missed the worst they had to offer, apart from DEWs inane response to Si's fire extinguisher purchase. Just thought he was a bit immature, and not that good offroad . Don't remember any posts by MJG. I'm sure they'll resurface under another name (or have they already? )
  9. Welcome to the forum. Any idea what variety of LR you'll be getting? Oh, and where abouts in the world are you?
  10. here's a servo driver. 18 bucks.
  11. This was the first thing that came to mind. Servos are driven by a pulse stream from the receiver, but I reckon it would be possible to make up a controller that took input from a potentiometer and drove your servo to a corresponding position. You could then drive the pot from the tacho. There's lots of info on the web on controlling servos, from the robotics folks as well as R/C. I've a bunch of old servos here, maybe even receiver. Free to you if you want them.
  12. Thanks a lot Si, £20 sounds much better than the other ones closer to £50. Did you loose many tools in the 90?
  13. I just got prices from http://landyonline.co.za/workshop/ EMS1 (R1100) EMS2 (R1420) probe (R 194) Shipping to Ireland R 200. I'm sure shipping to the UK is similar. So, in total for the EMS1, thats 1494R, £102 Stg or 150 euro, delivered. (Now all we need is a forum discount )
  14. You reckon it's a bodge? It's the same on both sides. Has previously passed MOT in Northern Ireland. Haven't errrrmm, "got around", to the Irish equivalent (NCT) just yet.
  15. You get satellite TV in your truck too? Very posh
  16. My aging Gascat is past its best and doesn't work anymore. When it was younger, it was brilliant. Heated up in seconds, enough heat to solder biggish wire. So good, I never used the electric iron. It even worked in a breeze. A month or 2 ago, while wondering round B&Q, I bought one of these. Used it in anger for the first time yesterday. Anger really was the word, it's rubbish. Makes noise but no heat. Ended up heating the tip of it in a propane torch and then tried to quickly solder a blob on while it cooled. Any recommendations for a GOOD gas iron. I'd buy a gascat again but can't find them. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
  17. here's what I have on my 200tdi, if that's any help
  18. Would rather defeat the purpose of the snorkel by drilling holes in it for cables.
  19. Mine are mounted on the roof rack. I routed the wiring from the relay in the fuse box, up into the dash, over to the passenger A pillar, into the head lining and drilled a hole in the roof, near where the roofrack foot is mounted. I just filled the hole with silicone. Bit nasty, but it probably is the only part of the roof that doesn't actually leak. I'll post some photos.
  20. excellent. Hadn't heard the about the brake bleeding 'incident' before. thanks
  21. Just suitable tools to open the fill and drain plugs.
  22. Hmm, I do actually stand on the bonnet a lot, as it's much easier getting stuff on and off the roof. The I/C I have here is 175mm high. I wonder will it fit without removing the bonnet catch. Oh, and where did you relocate the horns to?
  23. I take it then that this is only along the length of the bolt? What about the shear force, for example where a JATE ring is attached by an 8.8 to the chassis rail?
  24. Yeah, I reckon that too, specially as my bonnet catch is a bit on the stiff side. What do 'proper' Allisport installs do?
