  1. Saw this in the sticky post about the court case. Terrific news.
  2. End of thread then! Must admit I'm disappointed not to find out - I like to be informed when I got a buyer. Something this forum has previously given me in spades. You said you were going to refer the seller to this thread - and I cast my vote to help you hoping you'd return the favour.
  3. If its the same as the one that was on my 2000 TD5 - then I've a pair spare?
  4. I have a monte carlo blue 90 - it is a nice colour IRO 2nd choice. If you are going to be towing a heavy caravan or trailer the high ratio transfer box may not be ideal. I've read that they are excellent for motorway journeys, but reduce the ease at which it tows (which makes sense of course). I think the new engine doesn't make much difference as the TD5 engine is good for big miles. IRO 3rd choice. I bought a low mileage one without much service history on the basis that it hadn't had time to suffer from it. It was in pretty much mint condition - and its proved to be a good deal. I think 28k is in the same boat. After all you could have a vehicle with a full history that had still been abused. The early TD5's can have the loom issue with oil getting into it. You can do a search on here for that. It is though an easy fix and if you pick either of the ones under warranty it would be an even easier fix! 2002 on TD5's had a few revisions - including a different ECU, which is easier to change maps on. Though its still possible to change the earlier ones too - so not really an issue in my eyes. Don't know if that's any use?
  5. I hope it is Trev! It'd be tremendous if it paved the way for opening routes elsewhere - I can think of a couple in the lakes that were closed but were easily sustainable... Fingers crossed and I'm looking forward to getting back into the Dales.
  6. Have you done a search? A lot of info in old threads on this.
  7. couldn't have said it better.
  8. I have the female Anderson socket under my cross member but no plug with jump leads yet - any suggestions on where to get some?
  9. Didn't realise you were in Malta! I think someone would help you out. Do a search for IRB developments or Bell Auto Services - and send them both an email, and see what they say. I've heard TD5Alive are good too but have had no dealings with them.
  10. seems like you are committed to keeping it then.... not sure why I'd bother when the expert advises not to - and particularly when I can get the right one for my vehicle re-mapped?
  11. Nightmare! Easyouts can work - but it depends how seized they are and you still have to drill them.... and if one of them snaps its big trouble. Rubber bung?
  12. from this thread: http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=39334&hl=
  13. I'd have liked a maybe on the 'would you use them again' - in the absence of that I put no. But it kind of depends on what they do next.
  14. Gilslandy, If you do a search on here and the net you'll get a lot of info on this. The first thing to say is that your 2000 TD5 ECU can be re-mapped. There are two very reputable firms who get recommended on here: IRB developments and Bell Auto Services. Both will open up the old ECU and put a reprogrammable chip in it. The second thing to say is that swapping the ECU brings a host of problems - Ian from IRB posts on here as Porny and I'm sure he made a post once listing all the problems with trying to swap ECU's over and how hard it is to get them to run right. So I'd sell on the new ECU and get your old one converted.
  15. Interesting set up David. How large are those holes? and what else have you altered ? I can see you have your shock on a 2nd mount....
  16. Very kind offer Ralph, but I'll take a drive out to my nearest dealer - its only an hour round trip. Just need to find that hour!
  17. 88 pence in parts - £6.95 postage!
  18. Could I have the numbers for a 200 tdi hand brake cable's clevis pin and split pin .... ? I'm fitting an x brake to my td5 and have ordered the earlier cable but it hasn't come with the pins... Thank you!
  19. I'm on standard height with standard duty springs with Gwyn's challenge kit, but with the new rear damper mount and am using x springs at the back. Balance it what I want. Don't get me wrong, I do get travel at the front - but I think the balance may have been more even before in some ways. I also know what you mean about people getting it all wrong about lift and travel and so on. I spoke to someone just the other day who had a mad 4" lift on a Disco but standard length shocks. They thought the only thing stopping them having travel like my Gwyn challenge set up was that they'd left the ARB on.. I'll look into drilling the bushes. What would people recommend? anyone pictures of theirs done?
