  1. Is there some contradictions in here ???
  2. So did you guys all do the same lanes as each other? or did each group do a different set of lanes?
  3. My Mum has a mouse problem and they've had a guy come to get them out - he's said the biro thing too. He said they are probably coming in through the holes in the air bricks, which are about that size
  4. An old lady used to live a few doors down from me - she made 1 journey a day in her car. It was less than a mile to the village shop for her paper and milk. She had mice nesting in her front springs - and they just used to go on the very sedate journey with her once a day That went on for years - only problem was when they chewed through the indicator wiring.
  5. One thing I've noticed round where I am is how people seem more prepared to sit behind me on a country lane. If I'm in the car some people are always right up the back side trying to intimidate me into going faster - probably thinking "stupid slow driver" In the Landy they seem more content to wait until they can overtake - I think the blame the slowness on the vehicule not the driver, just like they would with a Tractor. I like that no pressure on the ride to work anymore
  6. What's the smallest serviceable aerial for a cb?
  7. Thanks for the reply John I don't think its this though as it'd do it every time it was on full lock. I think the noise is developing though now - I'm hearing it a bit more. When its not so cold out, I'll have a look around and check the bearings mentioned above - though it doesn't sound like a bearing noise. Its a kind of groany moany noise.
  8. That's what's putting me off getting a cb at the moment - I don't really want a whacking great aerial. I like the fact that some ramblers take my Landy to be a farmer - and I'm trying to keep it that way. The ultimate stealth off roader would be a 90 pick up, with an Ifor Williams top, a guy in overalls, a dog and bale in the back...
  9. I have the same issue. My wife is 5'2" and can't really get in without the step.
  10. Would you share that with me too please? I'd love to trace your steps sometime!
  11. You should post a pic up of it from further back Mark.... its hard to see where it is from that pic.
  12. There's a chap on here recording his build up of something similar. I can't find it at the moment - but iirc its on a defender chassis, with defender modified wings. Its a nut and bolt rebuild. Have a search.
  13. I'm interested in this too. I'm a Landrover novice and mine has just started making a noise first thing in the morning on full left lock to pull out of my parking space. After that it won't do it for the rest of the day...?
  14. Which boundaries were pushed here?
  15. that's funny I like how it comes up with the steps before it gives you the result
  16. Brilliant pics, brilliant write ups! fantastic. Nice video's turbocharger! I'd love to drive those lanes - anyone fancy doing it all again?
  17. Thanks for the interest guys! I think there are more than a few ways to do this - but I think this is the simplest. A camera phone that runs with the Symbian S60 operating system - you can then download Sportstracker (which is what I've used here) for free. You install it on your phone and create an online account. If your phone has built in GPS the software will use that to record the route, if not you can get a bluetooth GPS 'dongle' thing - which is about £40 and actually is more powerful. Then take your pics or movies with the phone camera as you go along and it'll time stamp them so they can be picked up in the 'sportstracker' recording. Its all very easy to use. It was designed for running and cycling and hiking - but lends itself particularly well to green laning. I have an N95 8GB phone. It has a 5 or 6 mega-pixel camera - but more importantly has an excellent lense. It takes better pics than these show - although in fairness its always hard to take good pics from a bouncing defender! If you get one of these there is another great piece of mapping gps software called viewranger that I'd recommend. If anyone was interested in getting a set up like mine I'm very happy to help in anyway I can. Here are a couple more pics: Few more pics! I also use Garmin on it too as a road based GPS - I'm getting my money's worth out of it!
  18. Knew I couldn't make the forum trip as I was working Saturday and my wife was working sunday night - so went closer to home in the Dales..... http://sportstracker.nokia.com/nts/workout...ex.do?id=537439 Try this out. Its a GPS recording of the route - well until the battery ran out! It shows the route with the photo's where they were taken. You can also look at the photos in the bottom right of the page - which is easier actually. They can get a bit congested on the map. You can also change the graph to show altitude and if you trace your mouse along the graph it will show the time and move a little yellow dot around the route to show where it was. Good hey? Have to say it was a fantastic day - snow and blue skies and good company - a killer combination. No competitions, plenty of support and good banter.
  19. Sun, Snow and a clear blue sky! Fantastic
  20. Ask on Meguiars UK forum They specialise in high quality products for valeting and paint shops - they have a company forum where you can ask this. They are helpful and their stuff is fantastic.
  21. Absolutely. Before speed cameras came in I believe this was the Police message to the government. ie camera's won't help much we need to re-educate drivers and improve the standard of the average driver. The government, it seems, wanted to be seen to be doing something so went the easy camera route. I think the whole thing came on the back of a massive Police survey of accidents. They recorded the reasons for all accidents over a long period of time. The results got reinterpreted to put speed at the top of the reasons chart - when it was lack of driver skill and awareness that they scored highest by quite a margin I believe. iirc the one they jumped on was 'excessive speed for the situation', which of course isn't really the same as speeding and I believe the police initially pointed that out. anyway! I prefer trundling along green lanes these days - and my 90 is most comfortable at 50. 60 if I rev it a bit harder but still value my hearing in the long term. 65/70 only comes on a motorway with a big down hill.
  22. You're right - but its something I see a lot. The person does it as a reflex when they see the camera - either because they aren't aware of the speed they are at or they aren't aware of the speed limit at that point on the road. There is a camera near me that is in a 50 limit on the edge of a town - most people see it and suddenly brake down to 30. Its very dangerous.
