  1. Thanks for the reply Steve. It's not really motivated by wading depth - though I thought the 10AS unit was behind the clocks? The valves and filler etc are on the top of the reservoir, which would fill the seat box. The pipes will be able to exit through the holes the ECU wiring used. I think its the only place to fit it without incurring some compromises on either filling/draining it or routing the pipe work. I appreciate the input though! Thanks.
  2. I had a bit more luck searching for previous answers on the springs..... so sorted there! Here for anyone who turns this up in a future search! Just need to answer the cdi question now......? anyone know?
  3. Thanks! I'll have a look underneath. I read that some people don't bother with a plug on the bell housing because the centrifugal force of the clutch throws it all outwards so it drains off anyway... is that right? or would you recommend using the plug?
  4. 1. I'm going to install a cb onto the bulkhead behind the seats... is there a switched live anyone could recommend that's around there? I'm not brilliant with the new style wiring diagrams that are in my Haynes...... I know its best to have the cleanest source possible, ie straight from the battery, but I'm concerned about it being left on. 2. I'm also going to move the ECU out from under the seat onto the bulkhead - and move the fuses out too. Do I need to disconnect the battery before I remove the ECU? is it possible it might spike it or is it insulated enough? I haven't properly looked underneath yet - but I'm thinking I can drill a couple of holes into the floor behind the seats, use the original rubber grommets (seals) and run the wiring up there instead of into the underseat box. (I'm doing this so I can fit my hydraulic reservoir there) 3. I found this rolling about in the cab? what is it? 4 If I'm putting a H14W hydraulic winch on the front of my truck = what up-rated springs can anyone recommend? would a set of rears be ok? Any help greatly appreciated! Thank you!!
  5. I like fridgefreezer's sensitive restoration......
  6. This is all that Parkers list..... I'm not sure how accurate the list is, but they are usually spot on for what I've looked at before...???
  7. Excuse my ignorance - but why is that?
  8. Maybe one of the ex utility ones the 'defender centre' sell would be a good basis for one?
  9. Are the ribbed ones more fun worth more? I presume they are an option?
  10. Nice and sunny here - I even cleaned and waxed the Landy
  11. OMG! a laugh or cry moment? I'm laughing at the moment - but it somehow feels wrong? like I'm not recognising the gravity of the situation .....
  12. Mega slow for me too - I rebooted at first but then realised that it was only this site that was slow.
  13. Finally fixed the vent controls on mine today.... in the foot well vent I found a pencil !.... the last owner must have had one of those kids who put jam sandwiches in his video recorder etc.... I also found that when the lever was moved down to the middle position the inner cable pulled out fine, but when you then moved it down to the bottom it pulled the outer cable too. Moving the lever back to the top then let the outer cable slide back to its original position. Thus why I could never get all the air fully out of just the top vent - or fully out of just the bottom vent. The outer cable cover was all peeled back exposing the metal coils just behind the clamp. So what must have happened is that the pencil has jammed the vent and the control has then been forced down - dislodging the outer cable from its clamp. I've reset the outer cable and clamped it down really tightly - sprayed some wd40 down into the outer sleeve and all is well! Small thing, easy fix in the end, but very pleased to have control of the air again! I gave it a good wash too - including under the bonnet and hosing the footwells out - so feels like a productive day.
  14. Brilliant - that's clear for me too now. Thank you So you can have in cab or outside control of the winch.
  15. Here's a close up of number 7 The set up came off a very late model tdi defender. I hope to fit it to my td5 90. I'll have to move the ECU and fuses somewhere as the oil reservoir fits under the seat. If that's a throttle control I think I'll have to work something else out for that too with the td5 not having a cable. Maybe I could set it up to actually pull the peddle down from the back? Any price guide for a full H14 set up?
  16. Great thanks! It is a H14 kit. What's number 4 then? and last question, what's a fair price for this lot with the winch, steel cable and bumper? Thank you for your help!
  17. Can anyone cast an eye of this Hydraulic set up, that's been taken off an ex utility vehicle, and tell me what everything is? I've labelled what I can - but would appreciate any help you can give (particularly for 4,6 and 7)
  18. Awesome pics Mark!! Love that one of me on the steps.
  19. Just got back from a trip into the Dales again, with a few more pics for your delectation.... Pathfinder took more pics than I did - so hopefully he'll put some up here too. Bolton Castle: on the Wiley, Windy, Moors Great day. My right arms a bit numb from being thrown into the door on the rocky sections - so I'll type more when its back to normal...
  20. Yes I live in Lancashire now - will drop them a mail though. Maybe a kind soul there would host a couple of visitors!
