  1. regrettably loose nuts in this instance. did the dealer fit the wheels?
  2. Great! I'd love to come and do some lanes in the peak district in the new year - beautiful part of the country.
  3. I was hoping for a winch and bumper - but she must have misheard me - I got a home made jumper! Makes me look more like a Land Rover owner though, and I do like it!, so all's well
  4. Where do you live Speedy? I'm near Preston - I'm planning on taking mine down to Porny some time. I've a few other jobs further up the list first though.
  5. I suppose the op's username should have put my mind at rest ! [no offence meant Jamie!]
  6. I didn't realise they'd do 80! I think I have too much mechanical sympathy and perhaps hearing that is too sensitive ?? - mines 'comfortable' (for me and the motor!) at around 60 - 65 and that's where I drive it. It'll run up to 70 on a downhill but that's about it.... Am I being too gentle?
  7. My wife wanted us to take the Landy up to the lakes to have our Christmas lunch in the Landy So We packed up Snowman (check) Tinsel (check) - and we're off! a few views along the way.... Up Kirkstone pass.. Dropping down the other side towards Ullswater.. Near the bottom.. Then onto the old coach road with a splash! Its not at all challenging to drive - but the views on a sunny day are just beautiful We drove to the foot of that fell in front turning right across it.. We turned the Landy around to get the wind out the back and parked up... and this was the view out the back door... awesome Then we fired up the stove... and voila! Christmas lunch (although we forgot the gravy!) After lunch we had a hot chocolate and had the Christmas day bloated feeling - so a quick walk to regain our composure Then back to the Land Rover - looking marvellous as it does.. A bit further down the lane we met some friendly horses.... Then we parked up again to look out over St. Johns in the Vale as the light faded and drink tea.. and home again.... great day
  8. Actually for a long time Mo, I thought you were someone's wife.... Godly - shame on your wife!
  9. Stay calm! Tata is investing tens of millions into the company: BBC Story
  10. Merry Christmas Pacey!! You're a hero. Land Rover hot mince pies here we come!
  11. An Engineer answered this on another forum I'm on......
  12. My wife has asked that we go laning on Christmas day and have our Christmas lunch in the back of our 90.... but with the TD5 having no exposed manifolds I was looking for suggestions as to how we might heat our mince pies???
  13. lol it did stop the sandwiches in the boot from being eaten!!
  14. Thanks guys. I see what your saying, I've not had much experience of autos, so thanks for that.
  15. [off topic if no one minds!] Why do people favour the auto so much? I thought people would prefer the extra control of the manual? [/off topic hope no one minded]
  16. I think the consensus of opinion isn't favourable on here - I think it was described as a Defender crashed into Toys R Us. Or the Land Rover Duplo.... but! It doesn't matter what we think! as long as you like it.
  17. I think you've found the best LR forum on the web ...
  18. Thanks guys The Forest of Bowland is sort of between the four corners of Preston, Lancaster, Settle and Clitheroe. There is not a lot of laning to be had in it but its our back yard for when we've no time or money for diesel! to head into the Dale or the Lakes. Both the Disco's are nice. Dave's lives around Morecambe. Pathfinder's lives around Lancaster. I'm between Preston and Blackpool. Rob I'll drop you a pm about meeting up.
  19. It'd be nice if they got a big sponsor and made it just about the driving again.
  20. Itchy feet for a trip out onto the lanes got the better of us - so we did a few local lanes. (Most of these pics are Pathfinder's!) Just before this next pic Dave's dog caused a bit of panic when he locked the car from the inside - whilst we were all chatting outside...... The window was open but just a tiny bit at the time ..... fortunately pathfinder's previous life as a cat burgular came into play, and by standing on the defender, he was able to stretch his arm through the gap and open the car. Funny how pictures make everything look flatter and less severe? This is me Dave Dave's a very articulate chap Tea break Here are a couple of vids: There are a couple more on youtube from this short trip too - called Lickhurst and river crossing
  21. Ahh thanks. I wonder why they stopped fitting them then. Mine's a '99
