  1. Yes thanks, that helps. What is a head unit and can speakers be plugged in to it? Seen a few head units for sale, are they for fancy stereo thingys ??
  2. Think Alba will be better than my Sharp cassette player, its only got MW and LW I had an Alba stereo system in the house years ago and it was very good, its in my mates garage now still going strong
  3. Thinking of nipping round to Halfrauds tomorrow, some stuff is not badly priced
  4. Alba are rubbish as in ?? They don't last ? They are difficult to operate ? They look rubbish ? They are not loud enough ? My phone doesn't have music and I cant work Bluetooth even if I might have it. By USB do you mean like a memory stick thing? Think the latest ones have switchable colours, not sure.
  5. Tried three different car stereos today and none of them light up. One switches the ariel feed on when you turn the knob but no lights or stuff in the window. Decided to chuck them out and buy a new one. Seein as it's just an old Defender, what sort of wireless/radio/stereo would you suggest. Been looking at an Alba from Argos, its got an MP3 socket and a socket for memory stick so would suit my needs I think.
  6. Just bear in mind that the top intercooler hose is bigger on a 300 than a 200
  7. My 2.5 n/a 90 struggles to get over 45 at times, its on bigger 110 tyres and a bit over geared, have run it at 65 with a Disco on a trailer behind me on the motorway but had a following wind. Motorway its ok at 50 / 55 but hills kill it and I imagine the petrol would be the same with defender diffs. I think it will be ok with series diffs because I spend more time in 4th allowing the engine to run on a light throttle without too much load, it will be more economical despite being higher revving...., not enough power for high gearing.
  8. That's good news, are the gear ratios and overall gearing the same because with less revs available he may be slower that the 45mph it's capable of at the moment
  9. My mate has a 1974 petrol series and he is converting it to a 2.5n/a diesel I wondered if the petrol gearbox would take the extra torque from the diesel engine? thanks
  10. Land Rover 110 with 2.4 Transit engine 2007 onward. Looking for a set of pistons but the parts supplier say they don't list them for the LR and the Ford applications they list two different pistons. Does anyone know what the width of the combustion bowl and the ring layout is please? Picture would be brilliant __________________ ,
  11. Could try taking the feed from the tank (lift pump end) and blowing compessed air down it, the little filter in the tank sometimes gets blocked and this will clear it short term
  12. Sounds like fuel starvation so as above really, lift pump or filters
  13. Any one know the length of a Disco 200 front prop as I have been told that it may fit when I put a Salisbury 110 axle under my 90, might have to shorten mine if it doesn't thanks
  14. Wouldn't be a major problem not having a Salisbury back axle if you just use it as a land rover and not as a load carrying machine. Just swap the prop for longer one and the spring carriers for 110 ones and its done. biggest problem as I can see is prop length cause the Salisbury diff nose is about two inches longer than a ninety one so as mentioned above, your prop will be short. Not sure on shocks, are they the same??
  15. My one tonne engine crane lifts engine and both boxes from the front no problem. Lifts high enough to pull landy away and drop engine etc on to trolly (donated by B+Q)
  16. It wasn't Britpart but another carp make alparts or something, probably glued together in China
  17. Well it's sorted, the new lift pump that I put on last week has failed, the arm snapped and dropped in the sump. Fitted a good used one and its going like a train. Cant trust new parts these days and I think Delphi have finished so where do we go?
  18. Still surging just a little and only now and again, not had time to bleed it properly on the pump so I suppose its some air in the system. Got a 200 tdi for it now so just going to live with it for a week or two.
  19. Either mounts will be fine for 200 tdi, Disco ones welded on to chassis will not be a problem
  20. Need a little advice on what to do please Changed the lift pump and fuel filter on my 90, 2.5n/a diesel and she is surging occasionally on tick over and revs not always dropping off quickly when changing gear. She will tick over lovely for a minute then the revs will rise for a few seconds and then fall. Sometimes looses power for a second or two on the road as well I'm told by my brother who test drove it after the repairs I'm thinking air in the system but will bleeding the injectors cure it. not had time to get it done as I have a broken shoulder so cant do it myself, can't drive it due to a broken shoulder but would like it right for when I can. Thanks
