  2. diagram by landymanluke on here You need to put a diode in the wire feeding pin 85 from main beam. That way when you turn the fogs on by themselves they can't turn on main beam.
  3. Thanks for the replies chaps. It look's like WBP with lots of varnish then. Many thanks Martin
  4. I need to replace the floor of my 8 x 4 ifor trailer. Currently it's got a phenolic plywood floor that got a couple of holes in. The trailer lives out in the weather all year round, so I didn't really want to go gown the wood root. What would be the best material to replace the floor with? Is there a plastic/grp material that is strong enough to carry the weight of a mini digger? I know some of the new horse boxes are using plastic floors. Is checker plate an option. What is this like to shovel off? Many thanks
  5. I haven't got any further with this. Have a look at this thread http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=47862 Hope thats of some use

  8. If they are 55 watt rotating beacons they will draw just over 5 amps each. So if your running two in parrel you will be drawing approx 11 amps. I would run these through a 30 amp relay fused at 15 amps using 17 amp cable. If you split the output from the relay to feed each beacon, you could down size the output cable to 8 amp for each leg.
  9. 20% off Halfords Pro Tools. You can't use your trade card with special offers. They wouldn't let me have trade discount on 5Ltrs of oil & have the free set of screwdrivers worth £20.
  10. Cheers for the info. Don't think i'll bother then. Cheers

I was just looking at ebay & found these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2X-H3-Xenon-9-SMD-LED-HeadLight-Car-Bulb-LAMP-HID-SUPER_W0QQitemZ140348472583QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item20ad6bbd07&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 Has anyone tried them. I thought they would be a good idea for my worklights. Giving me a low current draw. Many thanks Marin
  12. It's probably been triggered by the voltage drop when you open the door & the interior light comes on. Try turning the light off or pulling the wires off the back of the door switch.
  13. Garmin have introduced a "H" series of units. The "H" is for high sensitivity gps. We brought an e-trex "H" the other day & it works very well under thick tree cover.
  14. Id clean the engine & gearbox off with some jizer/gunk & a pressure washer. Then keep an eye on it over a period of time to see if you can see where the oil is leaking from. I find a lot of oil on my 300TDi leaks out of the rocker box gasket.

  17. Thankyou for the advice . I like the idea of using box for the gussets. I think ill have to do some careful measuring to see where I can fix it to the chassis to spread the load to the greatest extent. Many thank once again.
  18. Im thinking of building myself a 2" receiver hitch winch mount for my defender like this one http://www.devon4x4.com/products_a/p1951c2...ssis-mount.html I was going to mount a 9000lb winch to it. What gauge steel do you think would be best to use. Would you add anymore stiffeners into the design. I was thinking of some 6mm steel plates added where the two tubes meet incase there's any sideways pull. Cheers

  20. stuck a load of WD40 on theUJ's this morning & left it to soak in. It felt a lot better this evening, so a big thank you to Western.
  21. I have a 1996 Defender 90 that is fitted with a 4 bolt steering box. The steering has gone heavy. I've jacked up both front wheels & the steering is still heavy. So i disconnected the steering drag link & the steering felt notchy & heavy. the power steering res is full of fluid & it did overflow while testing the steering. Moving it from lock to lock. There are no leaks of the pump or the box. Do you think the pump or box are at fault? Can the box be adjusted in situe or do I buy a recon box? Many thanks
  22. I have started planning the install of my mud dash. Im trying to work out how to wire my rear wash/wipe up. For the washer I was going to use an off/mom switch to operate the pump. This should be the green wire to pin 2 & black/green wire to pin 3. Then i was going to use an on/on to power the motor & park switch. This should be the green wire to pin 3, the brown/green to pin 1 and the red/green to pin 2. For the carling pin outs look here http://www.mudstuff.co.uk/Fitting_Instruct...itch_wiring_PDF[1].pdf Can anyone see why this will not work. Many thanks

  25. I bled the system last night & this made no difference. So I took the cover plate off the top of the master cylinder. It turns out the two lock nuts had worked loose allowing to much movement on the master cylinder input shaft. Adjusted it all up & it seems a lot better. Cheers for the advice.
