  3. It sounds like the vehicle is fitted with a run-lock, to stop the vehicles battery going flat when all its lights are on. After a quick search for run-locks Ive found these which may be useful. http://www.emergencyequipmentshop.co.uk/lo...103921cd913b38c & the circuit diagram https://www.emergencyequipmentshop.co.uk/im...runlockinst.jpg HTH
  4. Thankyou , Ive been up & unplugged the injector loom, there was oil present in the connector, so we've cleaned up the connectors & its running a lot better. We'll get a new loom & replace it asap. Thankyou ever-so much for the advice given . 14 minutes from me posting to fault been diagnosed is quicker than most garages .
  5. My mates got a 2000 Series 2 Disco fitted with a TD5 engine. Last night he got in it & it sounded like it was missing, when he started it up. There was a vibration at tickover & through the rev range. Early in the day it had been running fine. Am I right thinking its a blocked injector, would a dose of Redex Diesel help or is it going to be a set or recon injectors. How can I tell which one is blocked? Do I need to change all five or just the faulty one? What would suddenly cause it to go? He needs it back up & running to tow a large trailer for work tomorrow. Many thanks in advance for any advice given.

  9. I manage to get the pastic clip back on through the slave hole. It took about an hour & half. I had to take the prop of the transfer box to give me a little more access.
  10. Ive just brought a pair of Jolly Chainsaw Boots, and a mate loves his Jolly Fire Boots. There Goretex lined, carbon fiber mid sole, so the light weight & flexible. I can wear them all day & dont know ive got them on.
  11. Thankyou everyone for the advise. I think I will go with the branded parts as I regually tow heavey trailers. So the best brakes are worth their wieght in gold. Thankyou once again.
  12. I need to replace the disc on my 1996 Defender 90, is it worth spending the extra money and buying Delphi or AP Lockheed discs, or do I buy the cheep discs that most after market suppliers sell. The Delphi/Lockheed are about twice the price of the cheep ones, but are they going to last any longer or are they going to be made from the same type of cheese as the cheep ones. What are your thoughts please. Cheers
  13. The PCD of the Disco 2 wheels are different to that of your 110. So they wont fit.
  14. Put my mates on the passenger side transmission tunnel. It has got nocked afew times & the dog has smashed the screen. Now looking for a new location.
  15. Are the side light wires & earth wires, so that the switches will glow when the lights are on. If so can you not link these wires from switch to switch to save running half a dozen wires in. The other way is to form small looms up using spiral wrap to bunch the wires together.
  16. Ive got a couple of these, http://www.tooled-up.com/ManProduct.asp?PI...-Soldering-Iron I use them daily at work (auto sparks), heat up quickly & you can get a good range of tips. HTH

  22. Thankyou very much guys, keep it coming please
  23. Im thinking of fitting a Mile Marker winch to my Defender (I know it will be slow ). Can some of you who have the ZF74 pump fitted take some photo's of your installs please and answer me a couple of questions. I can't fit a PTO driven pump as I have an overdrive fitted. The winch will be mainly used for tree work (pulling fallen trees out of ponds) and self recovery. Does the pump run all the time, even when not winching or is there a clutch in there of some type? If it does run all the time, how much power does the engine loose? Have any of you had any problems with this set up? What winch bumpers are you using? All install tips & advice welcome. Many thanks in advance.
