  2. Some pic's of the axle case painted in paint remover ready for cleaning it all off for painting
  3. The paint remover has done its job but i just haven't had the time to clean it all off as i have been working on my sons car and a mates car aswell just when i thought i had the week off to myself working on the landy, i will keep my mouth shut next time and not tell anyone when i am off
  4. Nice, I remember years ago when me and my bro was in our two S2a's at Kirton Lindsey a guy came on in a 90 fitted with an FD 30 or something saw the engine but we didn't ask anything there was nothing it couldn't do think it got where RR's / V8 90's couldn't go and it sounded great and ever since then I always wanted one
  5. Removed the stub axles i forgot to knock off the other day then started cleaning the dirt off the axle case and now trying some paint remover i bought for another small project i was doing today aswell and if it works tomorrow i will paint it all over the axle case ready for painting soon
  6. So what bhp is the Nissan 4.2 quite like the sound of them, been watching a nissan patrol club in NZ that run mainly the 4.2 version and they sound great, would love one on the 90
  7. Yeah I have still got the original 200tdi air filter but wasn't quite sure if it was off a Def or a Disco 200 as was a 2.5td originally as the canister was mounted in such away you had to remove it to check the oil and there was loads of room on the other side but not easy to make fit but with the Disco engine fitted I just mite be able to make it fit on the drivers side of the engine
  8. Stripped the rear axle today and was quite surprised one how clean it was inside aspecially the diff housing, anyway here are the pic's
  9. Not sorted it yet but had to do a tip run today with the 90 with trailer and it didn't do to bad considering then when I came back and un-hitched the trailer I decided to go for a 20 mile drive with no prob's and found where I could the landy would gradually speed up to 60ish so it does sound like its slightly Retarded
  10. Hi guys We have a Southdown snorkel fitted to our now Disco 200tdi 90 ( was Def 200tdi ) anyway son was off roading at kirton a few weeks ago going through puddles not fast but not slow and he forgot to turn the head round on the snorkel to stop the spray of mud and water getting in the snorkel and the week after I decided to remove the engine to fit a Disco engine in and whilst removing the air intake pipe from the turbo there was signs of dry muddy water in the pipe and looked up at the head of the snorkel and it was facing forwards and the grill of the head had signs of muddy water on it aswell, the truck is currently running without an air filter mainly from lack of space in the engine bay and just the snorkel piped in. So with the new engine fitted and seeing this I want to fit an air filter before we go off roading again, anyway I have seen snorkels fitted with a piece of pipe fitted where the snorkel head would be and a cone type air filter connected to the pipe and fixed to a role cage or light bar, we don't have either so will need to find some way of doing something, but I need to know does this type of setup really work and how often do you need to clean the filter, pic's would be nice if possible
  11. New parts on the bench waiting to be fitted to the axle's and new chassis when it arrives in a couple of weeks
  12. Mine had an adjuster bolt which i took out due to it touching the mat when full pressed down
  13. That's the plan booking the 90 in to have the pump and injectors overhauled
  14. Ok i just did as the Haynes book said when i did the timing belt inc slackening off the sprocket to pump bolts and getting the timing locking pin to slide in and out easyish and tightening them up again
  15. Picked the bits up this morning and it all just about fitted in sons Astra and it was on its arsenal
  16. Had another go at the FIP today as i need to do something to get it to the diesel spacialist when its booked in so i set the throttle linkage to where i was happy to drive it, anyway i had a little run round in it and the engine pulls well, is quieter than the Def engine, dosn't smoke as much as the other engine and that didn't smoke much anyway, but it will only go to about 40mph but even with this problem its got i am quite happy as the problem should get sorted when its done, oh and the steering feels better aswell
