I used a spirit level across the rim edge and steel rule to measure the 72mm from the naive outer face. I couldn’t photo it as my hands were full. So just shy of 3”.
I’ll visit my local Landrover shop and measure one of their LWB rims myself just to compare the two, cheers.

It uses ET, which for our purposes, whilst technically correct, is pretty useless. If you have ANR1534, they're the 'hooky' FC rims, actually 130 rims, and likely came from the MOD ex 'Norn Iron'. You're measuring 'deepset'.
On ANR1534 6.5 Deepset measures: 72mm
Why do you need LWB deepset? Can you explain what you're trying to achieve?

I thought that but then these are riveted and I thought the Defender 130 rims were welded?? 🤷♂️
Easy to see why there’s so much confusion.
I need the dimensions for my project. I want to know the difference between the two.

I’m wondering if that spreadsheet is correct. I have ANR1534 rims with a wheel mounting face to bead of 3”.
None of the measurements in that table tally with that unless the measurement points are different 🤔

It seems a lot of effort for little, if any gain. I’d have thought that the standard manifold coupled to a decent stainless system would work equally well and be easier to fit.
There again, who am I to talk 🤣🤣

I’m guessing there’s a reason why the standard 2.5 exhaust manifold can’t be used?

One query though, aren’t the SWB rims 5.5” as standard and the LWB ones 6”?
Or are they all the same width?

There is an excellent thread on the 900Club forum - you need to join to read it - that details all the various offsets for the 6.5" rims and part nos. for all the other rims . There would appear to be at least 3 tube type 5.5" rims by part no.
It was linked on here somewhere a while ago and I saved it to favourites - it's title starts with " Buyers guide land-rover super .....etc."
Can't do links - sorry .
I'll measure some of mine for you tomorrow
cheers

Thanks Steve. I’ve got the 6.5” 1 ton rims here but I’m looking for a rim with around 60mm or less of inset. The ones I have here are nearly 100mm.

Anyone have the measurement between the face of the wheel to the edge of the rim on a standard LWB rim please?

Is it this one?

I would always try to use an OE unit if you can cobble it in. From what I have seen, aftermarket/custom rads have hefty fins and tubes more suited to an intercooler IMO.
I have got a Lexus LS400 one here, which produces far more HP than a Rover, and its only about 20mm thick.
I don’t suppose you have the dimensions of the Lexus radiator do you?
I was wondering if I could get a standard P38 rad recored to reduce the height. Width is fine🤔

They are a very efficient modern radiator, so no need for any greater depth.
You simply can't compare to say, a series radiator.
Reason I ask is that I’ve been speaking to a well known ally radiator specialist who are adamant than nothing under a 50mm core will cool a V8 sufficiently. But then I saw that diagram which clearly states 40mm 🤷♂️
A 40mm core would be ideal for my project so if this is correct then it gives me more ideas to work on 👍
I’d also be interested in the height and width of the header tanks if anyone just happens to be walking past a P38 Thor rad with a tape measure in their hand....😉
If anybody can also tell me the thread size of the gearbox oil cooler hose fittings that would also be appreciated.

Mine came off a Disco 2.

The one in the photo is from a disco, the parts diagram is defender, I don’t think the disco one comes apart .
I’m glad I managed to find another method then and not bugger it up 👍

Oh!
Tidy.
I think I'll be okay. The throttle body almost replicates the zenith carb, size wise, so I'm planning on using the original swan neck and trunking.
Of course! You’re running a TB not an SU 🤦♂️
It’s my age 😉

I've a nice snorkel version of the oil bath for this. If I need extra air flow I'll run it with a low oil level, but as the throw body is only 45mm at is narrowest, the oil bath can't be the restriction, or can it?
I’ve read previously that the oil bath filter is very efficient so I don’t think there would be any problems running that 2.5. If you supercharged it then maybe but as it is at the moment, I wouldn’t worry.
This is the elbow I was talking about.

Oil bath, and snorkel.
I know the debate.
I’m sure the 6 pot has the correct adapter elbow to suit the SU and allows the oil bath filter to be retained if that’s your preference. I investigated his when I was going to fit that Rover 3.0 into my truck.

Sorted.
Removed the spring. Hammered off the old cup and then stuck the new one in some boiling water for a few minutes to soften it up.
Found a suitable ring spanner to hold the cup in position and then gave the spanner a couple of blows with the hammer at which point the cup slipped back over the pivot ball.

Anyone know how the lever comes apart to replace the plastic cup?

I’m still waiting to hear back from them about my rims 🙄
Outer rim depth measurement

So just to check I’ve understood this correctly.
I’m measuring a deepest of 72mm on my ANR1354 rim and Gary has measured 2” (50mm) for the 569690 standard LWB 5.5” rim?
So the answer to my original question is 22mm difference between the two.
