-
Did one last weekend in the throws of a cam belt change, very little trouble doing it, just the obvious, don't go ramming screwdrivers in the orifice without paying attention
-

Gearbox crossmember - how to remove?
stevebus replied to Junglie's topic in Defender Forum (1983 - 2016)
Not than I can speak for everyone, but don't stop on my behalf, I'm fascinated, keep it coming -
Thanks for the info aswell fella, albeit the old 110 it's going on is basically a yard wheelbarrow and I should consider myself lucky it has a steering wheel let alone an exhaust, but noted thank you
-
Thanks for all the info there that's great, it actually isn't going to be used for a winch, hopefully if all goes to plan we're going to run a log splitter off it so they'll be no real force just to turn a hydraulic pump, I've sort of had it apart but stopped again what with everything else going on, nice plug for your broken one😁, how broken is it and how much do you want for it?

200 / 300 TDi boost ring (dynamic timing advance)
stevebus replied to Peaklander's topic in Defender Forum (1983 - 2016)
@vulcan bomber I know its been a bit of time since I bought your bit, done my cam belt along with a dozen other things that needed doing plus your boost ring thing, what a difference mate, felt a could deal more responsive from the off, night and day to be honest, if this makes sense it felt more industrial and tighter in its whole response to the throttle, good man anyhow, happy Easter mate -

Jesus fella, you said the other day you had sorted all that out, they are lethal to be fair and to be used only with respect, not that I'm trying to make light if it go on that YouTube site and have a look at the disasters that can happen, care and caution all the time with those bloody things mate, I think most would agree -
Thank you @Daan that's handy to know, I didn't think it could be to complicated just airing on the side of caution really, it's nice to know nothings going to fly out at me
-
Thank you fella, unfortunately thats the one I have, there's some good information on there but at the risk appearing ungrateful not the strip down bit I'm after, thanks for your effort mate, especially on a Sunday, all the best
-
Thanks Mike, don't bust a gut over it but if you do come across it that would be handy

I've managed to find a file from superwinch with part numbers, drawings and how to use it but @FridgeFreezer nothing to do with dismantling it, I can't imagine it's going to be rocket science but it's always nice to have something to look at with torque settings and suchlike

stevebus replied to Jocklandjohn's topic in Defender Forum (1983 - 2016)
Sorry to go on, another thing you can do is add another battery to your solar side, that'll help -

stevebus replied to Jocklandjohn's topic in Defender Forum (1983 - 2016)
Not that I'm going to get into a dispute about it, I was told this by Marlec, and this is my case only, all a controller does is basically short circuit when the battery is fully charged, and stops gasing and frying them, to get rid of the dump, is to either get a hot water element (which is a good one) or some sort of zenor diode like you use to get old British motorcycles, the controllers you get don't do that, all the while your solar panels are up there doing their thing it's going nowhere other than trying to get somewhere, if that make sense and the power can go back to the panel and fry it, which then creates false readings, basically all the while the sun is shining that panel is taking it, giving out grunt and going nowhere, the diode will protect your panel and send it one direction, the dump, hope to god that makes sense -

Electrical help re solar panel and over voltage
stevebus replied to Jocklandjohn's topic in Defender Forum (1983 - 2016)
No worries, good luck with it all, the only thing more I'm going to say is I found that keeping the alternator side of this completely separate from the solar side worked better for me, basically what started the wagon started the wagon and what ran the inside, TV, stereo and lights just did that, all the best -
