They are nice things to have fella, did try to read it all but going a bit boss eyed trying to read it all on a phone, I'll have a look on a computer size screen when i get home, I did find out a bit more about this err1387 part number on the pistons if anyone is interested, it was a factory standard but larger than the err1390 and the elusive err1391 and unfortunately unavailable now, so a rebore for me on that particular block, suppose it'll give me something to do
-
Sorry oneandtwo I didn't see your message from Sunday, I suppose my 300 is silver and not grey, with that peeling effect you have, could start a trend here fella
-
OK fella, I've got a 12L engine here in gold, not quite as bright as Muzaz's engine but gold all the same, the others I have are black and as damn it red oxide, I've got a 19j here aswell that's red oxide and the 300tdi I've got is grey, buggered if I know fella,
-
Sorry to go on, apparently there was a TX and a TY and GX and GY piston aswell along with the ERR numbers, only Land Rover could complicate it that much, we love em eh!
-
Yeah that I know thanks, I did a bit of googling today it turns out that the ERR1387 is slightly oversize from factory due to machining on a standard size piston, I suppose a Monday morning or a Friday afternoon engine. As for the ERR1391 can't find anything about that, Turners are on holiday, well Richard and Freda are so can't ask them at the moment either, thanks for getting back mate
-
Sorry guys been at work, and missed all the messages, I've got ERR1387 and the TX bit on the top, how many different sizes was there, if you've got 1390 and 1391 I'm 3 sizes smaller or have I got that wrong
-
Why did you ask if you bought it
-
All this info's good guys thanks, my worry was reading the unipart re-con bit maybe it had been rebored years ago and it maybe bolloxed now, a little more reassuring not that it cost a fortune, Fmmv, I spoke to mate after sending this post and he's basically said the same, not going to get on the British industry bit but I suppose there was some pride in what everybody did back then and quality mattered, nice one fella, and as above with what my friend said and you've put on the post, certainly reassured me Thanks all
-
Thanks fella, mine isn't quite as bright as that but that's good info, the others I have are either black or red oxide but after a lot of cleaning attention, thanks for getting back. If that's your engine there in the photo, I'm very envious, all the best mate

As above, if anyone can help, why is the engine block I got today painted gold, I have googled this finding reasonable answers that unipart painted them gold after some re-con situation way back when, to the more bizarre goings on that the paint actually changed colour over time with the heat (might explain my kitchen walls and the wife cooking) to " your the lucky one" they are special, from export to import to Willy bloody Wonka. Before starting this post I've had the head off this one particular engine assuming the unipart bit surely to god is the right answer, and to be honest worried that it may have been rebored and no further use on the block, not that the block or bores are seem bad, the bores measure 90.22 to 90.28 with a large TX stamped in the top of the piston, I have 2 other short engines here with no TX stamped in the pistons, plus 2 complete engines I know don't have this TX bit, can anybody shed some light on this aswell please, hope all this make sense, have a good weekend chaps

Right behind the driver or passenger seat cos you have the two in the corner of the tub, I suppose it could be the rear tub bulkhead for want of a better word, I'll send you a picture tomorrow where it fits and came from

Hello Jeremy, a serious apology is in order, I did bite to be honest and maybe shouldn't off, and certainly not at you. It does wind me up about all these emissions bit, and to be fair in this post now, I'm trying very hard not to start it all off again. Please exept the apology, hope the Grenadier lasts you the 20+ year's you lucky sod, all the best Steve
-
Maybe he can drive into town then, I can't, cos he's fortunate and I'm not, eh!
-
Sorry Jeremy, whilst I appreciate you still have your opinion, it's still bollox, ULEZ is a total liberty forced on 5 million people, how is it proportional, that France has the same policies just worded differently, sell your land rover mate and get a Tesla
-
I'll tell you something, whilst I understand covid was a major catastrophe, I had mates of mine running tractor units into Brussels, Paris and other highly protected emissions areas throughout Europe on euro 4s, apparently banned in Europe now to collect medical supplies for this country, 10 a day plus wagons, if the cargo is important enough it'll go on the back of an old Fordson major, and sorry to go on, hypocrisy to its highest order,
-
Couldn't agree more, I frequently get on ferries billowing black smoke all the way across the channel, with no complaints from any government either side when 200 lorries roll off that ferry every 2 hours, its all bollox

Clever f@cker you, your nowhere near Kent are you? -
All sorted chaps thank you, the fella who reconditioned it for me just rung me back, and for the record, said there's sweet Fanny Adams behind either of them, if that's the case I can't really get why they are there
-
Hello chaps, can someone help me here please, I've got oil coming out of the top of my transfer box, the breather is all clear and I've got a couple of other 230s here that don't have this part on, what I need to know is if I remove the cap with the 4 bolts on is anything going to come flying out at me or drop into the box itself, and the plug to left of it it, what does that do, I wouldn't be that bothered with a little leak but to be honest this is quite an alarming one
-
Hello fella, hope your your well, Turner engineering have got you valves in stock by the look of things and they're not so far away from you if you need to chat or a proper quick delivery set up, a good company

What engine is it? Those bolts on the water pump don't look like they've been moved in months but like an above post says that's got more than hot to do that, did you not hear it in anyway to give you an idea of the issue -

I've got one here fella, assuming the bracket your on about supports the fuse box on the left hand side of it looking from the front, I can take it off through the week if that's any good, when it stops chucking it down I'll send you a couple of pictures to see if we're on the right track
