  2. you can get any bits for these pumps from carwood they recon pumps for the military and they are very helpful .i had the same and its an easy fix
  3. can anybody tell me if the new steel defender doors are compatable with the older defender doors ? as iv just won one on fleabay im hopeing they are

  5. hi all can anybody tell me what the ampage is for the fuel cut off switch on the injection pump on a 1990 90 ? i found a 12V remote control switch, 2 keyfobs, 6A max and i was thinking of fitting one . has anybody got any thoughts ?
  6. hi all im getting a missfire when my 19j engine gets hot . i know one of the injector sealing washers are missing and that injector looks wet around the bottom end .i have brought new washers but carnt find the torc settings for the injectors . can anybody help or advise me ?
  7. behind the boxes at the back of the rear lights there an earth wire eather side screwed to the body and theres a screw holding the indicaters to the body thats an earth you mite want to try those i had something simular and it was just an earth . hope this helps
  8. iv had simular probs with my 19j i would think you need to test the heater plugs first i had the same problem for 4 years iv changed the starter, battery, heater plugs, injectors ,pistons and just about everything you can think ov even the injection pump . i was just about to give up when i found a thread about a 19j cambelt timing position everybody told me the timing point on the injection pump was the dot like it shows in the haynes but it turnes out thats the 12j engine the 19j is on the f mark next to it . i did this and it starts fine now with no white smoke at all i just had to move the pump around by a few milimeters . if all als fails try this it worked for me . good luck
  9. hi all i have recantly aquired a 4 bolt td5 steering box with no play or leaks but i have a 6 bolt steering box on my 90 whitch has loads of play in it but no leaks can anybody tell me if its a straight swop with the pipes and will it all fitt straight on ? many thanks richard
  10. try the engine mounts put some timber under the sump and jack it up if it lifts off the mounts then thats what it is . i had the same for 2 years and changed just about everything when i finaly gave up i notised a mounting rubber had seperated
  11. im sure iv seen a rear floor safe somewere on the internet that sits flush with the rear floor . i asume you cut it in to the floor . i dont think it would be that hard to make .
  12. hi everybody happy new year ! i noticed that in the cold weather my 19j (2.5td) had a ticking sound and had no power until it was warm i took it for a long drive and it cured it for a wile but this morning it started again . when i reconed the head 1 valve was slightly stiffer than the others im asuming its that one . has anybody got any quick fixes for sticking valves? P.S the timing is slightly out and i havent reset it witch had proberbly caused it with the unburned diesel burning on the valve

  14. iv bean trying to tidy up some of the dodgy wiring on my 1990 defender but i carnt seem to get hold of the connectors that land rover used id like to keep it all as origenal as possable can anybody help:(
  15. i had the same on my td .like mark said put the rad face down on 2 bricks and hose it for about an hour and you will gat about 10 pound of mud from the fins or it could be like mine when the mud was gone there were no fins so i had to get a new one . i have no probs now
  16. its Sound Deadening → Felt from woolies upholterers its fire retardent and for engine bays
  17. i used some high temp glue and ruvited an ally plate on to the frame were the turbo is . if the glue fails ill just put 2 straps on the sides but if you take the frame out first the frame holds it in place its just the sides. it only takes about an hour to do but well worth it
  18. hi all i removed my bonnet today ,stripped the frame out and fitted sound proofing and wow what a diferance . now i can hear the radio the engine now sounds like that dull sound you get when you go in to deep water.it has made a hell of a diferance well worth doing for £20 or so
  19. have a look at your left hand engine mount iv just had much the same . mine had split in half and the engine also bounced when under heavy load in the wrong gear . hope this helps
  20. but now iv fixed it i just want to polish it and put silver bits on like in the books
