  1. A Red Top will do 170 litres per hour.... and has bigger 1/4" rather than 1/8" ports that the RRC leccie pump has.... I sell them for £ 66.41 inc vat and can happily sort you out a good deal on any hoses to fit it and the tanks etc...... This pump would be a remote fitting and would self prime - just fit a switch and use it as a transfer pump..... Many thanks david
  2. Try 1/2" unf....... the 19,, spanner should actually be a 3/4" one David
  3. Here is the correction The front arms are to correct the cater angle, they have no effect on camber. The caster angle is the rotation of the kingpin in relation to the vertical which will in a direct way also put the diff back to a more std angel. Having said that the lower plane of the front axle in relation to the chassis means that correcting the caster may well move the prop flanges out of alignment and can cause vibrations On the rear ther is no caster angle so it is purely a releiving of tension on the bushes. Thouigh it will again affect prop flange angles aswell David
  4. Great knowledge on this site..... I am after the various diff ratios in 2wd Audi auto gearboxes depending on engine etc. and have asked the question everywhere with no sensible reply!!! First one out the bag here answers the question! Does anyone here happen to know about Audi final drive ratios? I need the lowest and highest and which ones are in a Tdi A4 / 80 / 90 as standard. David
  5. A 16 row cooler minimum but as big as you can afford will do no harm if you run it through a thermostat and will give all the cooling you need should things start to warm up. Use -10 hose ( -12 if you really want to push the boat out ). Give me a call on 01938.850382 if you want to know any more about the types of hose specs etc. you should be using. Remember most 'normal' rubber hose ( R6, R1 etc. ) is only really rated to 100'c which is too close to the limit for proper use with engine oil. Use Ah or teflon hose and you will have no heat worries..... David
  6. Hello all, If anyone has any nice pics of the lower front mounting bracket for a twin shock system could they post them up please... I just want to see how all the different makes have done it before I try to come up with a similar thing - not for twin shock but for long dhock mountings Any help much appreciated David
  7. A95 model year still puts you in the 300 class which have female ends David
  8. Depending on what box of 'left overs' they used on the production line then they might be but it is very unlikley. RRC fronts are (usually ) a male bulkhead fitting each end and ABS Disco will be a female clip fixing..... If you look at the Suzuki pages of my website www.llama4x4.com there is a picture of what these two fittings look like Many thanks David
  9. I have +5" Rough Country ones on the shelf..... David
  10. Exactly what is needed but with one little extra - the Show must be one based by the LR trade and promoted by all the magazines. I feel the mags are already too influential over the industry and wish the 'Big Show' could be independant of any mag leaving them to carry the adverts and promote the Show and report on it rather than trying to gain a monopoly on LR industry / hobby Will not happen i am sure as the mags will not give up what they have and can make out of the shows but a move away from leading the fashion and reporting on it by the magazines would I am sure result in a better Show and hobby all round David
  11. All very interseting.... -6 teflon is 8.1mm bore. I spoke today to my usual suppliers and also to Goodridge ( who I rarely buy from ). Both of these companies supply hose s right up to F1 sort of level of motorsport ( inc. WRC, F1, Formula everything, Le Mans) Both had the same view on carrying ATF - it can only be done properly through teflon: even id the hoses mentioned elsewhere in this thread can cope with the chemical side of things the temps are very near to the max. The Aeroquip push on is up to 150'c which is fine but both companies have suspicions over its chemical abilities amd the pic featuring the black more 'hydraulic' style hose shows in the specs a max temp of 93-100'c You don't have to be going that hot to get the fluid too near to this temp for comfort. The teflon is impervious to ATF and will work all day at 240'c !!! Fit what you like and if you are happy with what you use and have had no problemns then carry on by all means but if you want to know what is right for the job then as a supplier to all levels of different motorsport I can only recommend that you use stainless braided teflon hose.... Now the question is just down to what size?? -6 or -8?? David
  12. This thread interests me greatly as I am the person who supplied Steve90 and SootySport with the -6 teflon which worked perfectly on one car and apparantly not on the other ( SAME-ISH ) CAR. By default I have always used -6 teflon and never had a problem before - this includes comp safari, rally, track and road uses... it is simply 'always been that way' with almost all motorsport plumbing jobs.... Same size hose also goes onto R380 coolers Out of interest what 1/2" bore gose are you using - are you sure it is suitable for ATF?? I shall keep reading this thread with interest - a survey of what size bore steel hoses are on your original factory fit coolers might be interesting as there seems to be 2 sizes. There is alos 2 sizes of fitting in the ZF boxes. . I shall watch with interest Davod
  13. Agreed, they should be made aware...... but in the grand scheme of things I think we should remember that in the world of tourism anything we could take as a group to Scotland is a tiny weeny little drop that can be outdone by one week's take in a hotel from a salmon fisherman wanting to fish the Tay's famous pools. I think a time has come for 4x4 to be more pro-active in its PR exercises and accept that our current image and event format is unpopular with the outside world: Come and watch the people in Welshpool and their reatctions to different cars. These people ( on the high street at a weekend ) are made up of locals, Polish and a shed load of people from the Midlands and the Northwest who have caravans locally. When a rally car ( £2k Pug or £65k Evo ) goes past on a trailer ( daily occurrencce ) the general reaction is one of no interest at all or an excited 'rally Car' exclamation. When a ( offroad looking ) 4x4 goes past it is a no interest or ' carving up the scenery' type reaction. We have a poor public image and the magazines that appear on the same shelves as the mainstream public buy their magazines from feature vehicles and show pictures of everything the mass public dislike about us! We need a cleaner, more publicly accepted image or such problems with land etc. will never go away. David
  14. Only a generic catalogue picture rahther than taking a real one but it shows what I'm on about.... the male tube nut swivels on the tube and the tail end crimps into the stainless steel braided hose. The pic shows a concave seat which is wrong for a LR caliper but again you get an idea of what the fitting is all about.... Now if someone can remind me how to put a picture up then I will proceed!!!! I will email it over to you anyway David
  15. The 90' swivel male is like a tube nut on a piece of bent pipe that has a tail that is designed to crimp directly into the stainless braid hose.... If you want to run in hardline rather than a stainless braid then I would go for a banjo adaptor into the caliper that secures with a banjo bolt and leaves a male thread at 90' to the bolt that a normal unf female yube nut would flare onto hardline and screw onto the fitting.... If you go with a braided hose from caliper to T you will still be able to remove it and use a std LR part to get you out of the poo should you damage it so I still think this would be the easiest way to do the job David
  16. Having bow read the post and thus seen the application I would suggest the easiest is have a pair of stainless hoses off me with a straight one end and a 90 the other to go all the way from the caliper to the T. With your forum discount and inc vat and P&P that would be £ 31.35 Otherwise if you really want to go across the axle in steel / copper then use some banjo adaptors and bolts that would come off the caliper at 90' and allow you to screww an ordinary female tube nut onto the end of them - these would be 3/8"unf though not M10x1 when you are buying the tube nuts before flaring the pipe David
  17. Thanks for the recommendation I have received an email and replied to it with the 2 or 3 choices that this can be easily done.... David
  18. Thoughts ideas solutions ? Flush out the coolers well..... Then tell me what thread / fittings they have Tell me how you want to fasten into what engine.. Then decide whether you want to spend £20 per hose or anything upto £150 per hose depending on materials and hose type... Then give me your credit card number and wait for the parcel to turn up... Easy Seriously do not p*ss about with bits of crappy hose ( remember most hydraulic hose is only rated to 100' which is not enough and will soon work garden and crack if used on an engibe rthat is trying hard... ) and when you can havbe a proper swaged on fitting for as little as £2-3 don't p*ss about with wormdrive clips... One split hose or loose clip will knacker your whole engine pretty quickly for the sake of a fiver!!! I do oil cooler hoses every week for race / rally etc. and ask the ones who are spending a lot of money on the right hoses and you get the same answer every time " £5k of engine or £100 on 2 hoses??" Don't fall into the 4x4 trap of bodging it for £9 when £10 would have done a proper job!!!! David
  19. Right I now have prices and details of the little beasties..... Virtual dry break ( max. 0.1cc fluid loss ) and with a max pressure of 3000psi Available in steel or aluminium with -3jic ends ( or -4 for clutch size ). The steel ones also have a locking pin to avoid accidental disconnection. Run away at the price though!!! Steel £ 192.05 each Ali £ 285 each. Both of these prices include vat and postage so please form an orderly queue and phone at 1/2 hour intervals to allow me time to process each order as it comes in David
  20. Nizarrely I was actually playing with one this afternoon at my suppliers! I think it was Seat that they had developed / imported ( they work closely with a US fitting manufacturer ) and it was a lovely little thing! Light enough to fit mid hose and dry enough of a break to not need bleeding after reconnecting..... Price is yet to be set but I would work on no change out of over £100each - I will confirm this and post the answers..... Out of interest after weeks of threatening to do so I have started to put up some pages on the website of my motorsport side of the business ( actually the main business as 4x4 is my passion not my wages!!! ) Have a look at www.llama4x4.com to see what I am on about and then keep checking over the next days / weeks as more and more pages go on to download many thanks David
  21. Quite an easy job.... I make up one off throotle cables for kit / rally / track cars on an almost daily basis and even for a super, all singing all dancing one with bearings either end should the cable need to pull slightly off share they are only about £30 for one about 1 netre long. I suggest you use one with locknut bulkjeads either end of the outer cable so you can fasten it through the footwell. Then have a clevis onto a little tab welded to the pedal ( or use a Defender pedal ) and a direct replacement ball joint thing to go onto the carb linkage. All you will have to make is a liyyle bracket to fasten the carb end of the outer cable to. I think I am making this sound more complicated than it actually is. Give me a call if you need a cable making up with proper swaged on bulkheads and the appropriate ends Many thanks David
  22. I am yet to have a report of a single breakage at this weld... are you sure you have the right brand?? David
  23. Yes I can do the cooler hoses no problem..... All the other stuff is sort of in my head ( and in common motorsport knowledge )... what is it you are after? Give me a call or PM me with your contact number and I could call you ( out of hours if needs be ) to discuss what you need and how best to do it Many thanks David
  24. No. I did have but it expired ( www.motorsportplumbing.co.uk ) - it was a crappy free one that did no favours and I have never got round to rebuilding a better one. All my work comes in by word of mouth / recommendations / bumping into people( deliberately ) at rallies / sprinys / hillclimbs etc. Give or take a bit i can do any hose on your car ( fuel, oil, clutch. brake etc. ) in anything from cheapo black rubber to proper stainless braid race hose ). My main supplier is well up amongst the big names in F1, World rally, etc. so a lot of the stuff especially at the bigger end can work out expensive. What it is though is as good as you can get and the right hose for the job eg. ATF hoses made of teflon not ordinary fuel hose and so on. If there is something you are after give me a call as I am sure I can sort it out and the same 'Forum Prices' will apply to the motorsport stuff aswell. Ooh and I forgot to plug all the coolers, pumps, filters and the new range of heatshield materials aswell!!!! David
  25. Plenty of fittings on the shelf in -8 Do you want straight / 45 / 90 / 135 / 180 ?? in steel or aluminium ?? How do you intend to fit it to your hose - please don't say crappy worm drive clips. I can make you up the hoses with the right ends swaged on properly if you like. 4x4 suspension may well be my passion but motorsport hoses is what pays the bills! David
