  1. FWIW. I had a customer in just the other day carrying out an install of Aux light switch into brand new Defender. I mentioned the 'nightmare' getting hold of the correct conectors but he showed me the correct connector he had just sourced 'off the shelf' from Auto Sparks the wiring loom people.
  2. No Eastnor show in 2010. After the mudbath at this years show the Eastnor estate want time to let the ground recover before hosting any more shows. This forced LRW to look at alternative venues.
  3. LRW show dates confirmed for 19th and 20th June at the Bath & West Showground in Shepton Mallet. Organised by Live Promotions.
  4. Thanks for the tips. Some useful stuff to go on there. Will report back.
  5. Had a 2003 Td5 90 for couple of months. Truck is fitted with a factory fit remote central locking/immobiliser. Vehicle has been fine but it has just developed a problem whenever I come to unlock the car. As soon as you open the door the alarm sounds. It does this after locking with either the buttons on the key-fob or using ye olde worlde key in the door lock. Alarm will stop if you press lock and then unlock on fob. A LR guy told me to change battery in fob. No difference. Both fobs tried. Disconnected interior movement sensor in headlining. No difference. This is now getting a bit annoying for the neghbours and embarrassing for me especially whenever I park on any high street I can see people thinking to themselves 'is he stealing that Land Rover?' Was OK, now it's not. What's gone wrong/failed/is failing? Anyone any suggestions?

  7. Looks like a Baja race style tyre. BFG don't offer that tread any more so they're old tyres.
  8. Your wish has been answered. The two shows won't clash next year. They're exactly one week apart!
  9. FWIW. We have just placed an order with Carling for some Off-On-Mom switches for replacing the RWW switch. Crucially this switch will have the extra live feed terminal to retain the auto-park facility for the wiper. ETA is the start of Sept.
  10. Check out the American Expedition Portal website. Lots of inspiration for designs and plenty of self-build threads on their trailer discussion group.
  11. I know someone who had a 130 Hi-Cap loadbed done by Line X Cost £700 IIRC. He paid extra to have it colour matched to the body. Damned expensive but no denying it looked a quality job. FWIW. Lots of American owners coat their interiors with similar 'bedliner' products.
  12. Fresh food is the only thing you can't take into the country. When you disembark the ferry the customs people will ask you whether you have any fresh stuff on board. A polite 'no' has always been enough to satisfy them whenever I've been. Be warned though they do carry out spot-checks although I've noticed it's ususally the big motorhomes/camper vans that tend to get singled out and pointed to toward the strip-down bay. There are a couple of decent sized supermarkets in Egilstadir - the first place you'll come to after leaving the ferry - so it's easy enough stock up there. The fuel stations in Seydisfjordur and Egilstadir get very crowded on ferry-day with people arriving and departing so a top-tip is to fill up in Denmark before you board the ferry to save yourself time queueing for fuel once you get to Iceland. We've used CB in Iceland without any hassle though in the event of an emergency it won't be much use since the locals all use VHF radios.
  13. Are they making a new series of Chop Shop....???
  14. AFAIK, it was the post 02 Defenders that had the anti stall fitted as a response to feedback about the Td5's fondness for stalling. No doubt Ian, 'Porny' will be along soon to set me straight! LR did/does actually advocate the no throttle technique for pulling away in the Td5. It does work although nothing like as effective as the 'Puma' versions. I was told by a man at LR that the as soon as you touch the throttle it kills the Td5 anti-stall which explains why it's still easy to stall and anti-stall Td5! I think it's great technology. I had a Cummins engine truck with anti stall over ten years ago. Great for getting 40-tonnes moving from a standing start on a steep hill.
  15. Remove the two fasteners you have highlighted and give the whole central section a tug to release it from the spring clips holding it in place. I've not tried it myself but this is definitely the way detailed by Land Rover. I have a loose dash panel here on our workbench and can confirm the switches will fit in the location where you want to fit the switches. Emergency vehicles are fitting the switches in that exact location. One thing you will discover is the reverse side of the panel features a raised criss-cross pattern moulding to add strength to that section of the dash. Where you open up the holes for the switch mounts you'll need to pare back this moulding in order for the barbs on the switch mount to be able to grab hold of the dash cleanly. Hope this helps
  16. Count the splines at the steering wheel end of the column. FWIW. Defender has 36 or 48 spline column.

  18. FWIW, Snap-on are rebranded Ingersoll Rand
  19. American's go all dreamy eyed over anything Series so the guy will prooably get what he wants. It is a very flowery description for what is to us this side of the Atlantic a very average car. To an American Rover 'nut' however, who chances are has only ever seen the odd Series in the flesh or on TV, this is as good as it gets. We could easily do a ground up rebuild for that money but in the US you'd be into tens of thousands of $$. It comes to down to wanting what you can't have hence the reason this company can charge and get the prices it asks for Defenders.
