  1. I know where there's a tidy Td5 130 going for the price you'll pay to 'create' that 130. PM me if you want more details. And 'no' it's not mine! I've had unsolicited offers for mine on three seperates occasions from strangers sick and tired of travelling hundreds of miles to look at worn out sheds. It would appear if you want one you offer money for anything tidy when you see it - no matter whether it's for sale or not! They're great trucks but the nature of the beast is that they live a hard life so finding a clean one is a time consuming process.
  2. I have a tape measure and even better I have a 130! Between arches: 1000mm Loadbed Length: 1700mm Height of sides: 500mm Tailgate Aperture: 1360mm Overall length with tailgate down: 2080mm Don't forget spare normally lives in rear corner so would need to come out. I'd say the tailgate should take the weight of a quad. I've had some silly loads on mine with no bother.
  3. There are almost no green lanes in W Yorks. Certainly nothing that you could ever call a day out. Personally I wouldn't bother. There are still lanes open up in the Dales, but don't trust info on any map. The lanes in the Dales are being closed at such a rate or having temporary restrictions imposed upon them you'll need to make sure your info is bang up to date to guarantee vehicular status. Tong, near Bradford/Leeds is the best known off-road site in W Yorks. Check out http://www.parkwood4x4.co.uk for dates. There's also Frickley in South Elmsall near Doncaster Whitworth/Cowm quarry between Bacup and Rochdale is very popular with us northerners and although not in Yorkshire, is an easy 45 mins drive from Halifax
  4. I thought Extra Grip's were obsolete these days. IIRC, there is a copycat remould available but can't remember what it's called.
  5. Cooper ST is the closest thing to the old Trac Edge. More aggresive than either the General AT2 or BFG AT but stops short of a full MT. Had two sets of ST's on two different trucks and can't fault them. Some decent online deals here - http://www.tyrespec.co.uk/products/?pattern=Discoverer%20ST
  6. The 88in Tomcat exists for one reason and one reason only. To comply with the Association of Rover Club's regs on wheelbase for competition use. Since you're in the US there would be no practical reason to build an 88in. And remember whatever you build - forget the budget you have in mind!
  7. Footloose 4x4 show the product on their website. http://www.footloose4x4.com Look under security in their Products section.
  8. Try Roland Marlow at ACR. Good guy and he ships worldwide.
  9. And FWIW Td5 door hinge bolts are longer than earlier bolts.
  10. Check out Surefire torches. Very popular in Hereford and Iraq....
  11. FWIW. A better quality option than the standard Perei units are the 837 Varipod lamps made by Rubbolite. http://www.truck-lite.eu.com/Images/Models...2&88163.jpg. These have more LED's and have better sealing than the Perei version. Last time I priced them up at my local Commerical Vehicle factors they were something like £35 each. Can't remember the price of fog and reverse but for some reason fog and reverse LED's are always ridiculous money compared with stop/tail/indicator LED lamps. We also discovered an old Range Rover Classic flasher unit labelled 'electronic' on the casing was just the job for curing the fast flash issues after fitting LED's.
  12. The Heavy Duty 12v sockets we supply are designed to work with the standard cigarette lighter style plug and NOT the DIN/Hella plug. Your GPS/Phone charger should work perfectly fine with the heavy-duty socket. If it's not working it's the wiring or the socket at fault. The pos and neg terminals on the back of the socket with text moulded into the socket body. From memory I think we've only had one failure of a socket in something like 18-months. If your wiring checks out OK, give me a call and I'll send you a replacement socket. Kev
  13. A gem of a link found on the D90 Source forum. Long thread but worth sticking with it. http://www.scale4x4rc.org/forums/showthrea...hlight=defender
  14. Take a look at http://www.boab.biz/images/Tank%2091lit05.JPG and http://www.boab.biz/Pages/Water%20Tanks,%2...20Purifiers.htm. Note the water tanks are available in a fuel grade spec. Drawback with storing fuel in the car is the potential for spillages and the ever-present whiff of eau-de Diesel.
  15. I had exactly the same fault on my old EDC equipped Disco. The advance the timing tip was given to me by Jeremy Fearn of JJF Intercooler 'fame'. It cured my slow starting issues instantly. And apologies to JEK for not replying to your PM earlier!!
  16. A blown exhaust manifold gasket sounds just like a belt squeal on a Td5
  17. We use Interparcel for a lot of overseas stuff. Their third party carriers are DHL and UPS but not at DHL or UPS prices. They've always been very good.
  18. From the traffic lights at Eureka/Halifax railway station turn up into Halifax town centre. Look out for the cobbled entrance to the Pierce Hall halfway up Horton Street on the right.
  19. A very valid but often overlooked detail. We had an ex RR Torqueflite in our old racer. When we took it to a local drag-race auto boffin for a rebuild he asked 'where were the missing bits from the gearbox...?'
  20. And you call me media whore!!
  21. Try Interparcel. A third party agent for DHL & UPS but cheaper than dealing direct with DHL & UPS and waaaaay cheaper than Parcelforce.
  22. Julian. It's you! Gavin Lodge - the photographer credited with the pic is a pal of mine. I can forward you his details if you wish if you're looking for a copy of the pic. Kev
  23. The UK manufacturer/supplier of OE Land Rover hoods is Trim Technology. They will supply to the public. Exmoor Trim have a decent reputation for their hoods but you'll need to be quick since they're going to be Trade only as of Oct 1st. All Wheel Trim is another UK supplier with a reputation for good work. If it were my money I'd go with the Badger Coachworks hood. No other hood comes close to their fit and quality. Looking at their website I'd say you'll need the Badget IV Euro style of hood rather than the NAS style hoods. Full soft tops haven't been available off-the shelf to UK buyers for years but Land Rover does sell them. Is your hood canvas or vinyl material? We had an ex Land Rover owned car in our workshop recently of a similar age to your truck that had a full vinyl soft top - something I'd never seen before.
  24. Some more useful info here Organising insurance is usually the real headache for N America so start shopping around the recommended contacts now. FWIW, I've heard AIG (the company who sponsor Man Utd) offer temp insurance cover for visitors.
  25. FWIW: A US trade supplier posted on the American D90 source forum last week that Exmoor had informed him they would be switching to a wholesale/trade only outfit as of Oct 1st. Whether this is for overseas customers only, the post didn't say but for anyone thinking of ordering soon, it's maybe worth checking.
