  1. You could try reverse bleeding it ie drain it down and pump fluid in from the slave. Mike
  2. Used the rad out of the 110 as it was watertight but tired. Swapped head with one of the others because of the core plug and I suspect it's warped. But got it done and back on the road. However the wife pointed out this morning she doesn't like the death wobble. Guess I'm doing panhard bushes tonight. Changed the screen last night with help from the wife. Thanks to a friend for giving and delivering it to me. Mike
  3. If you pull the slave out you might be able to see/feel. An endoscope would be great. But otherwise it's eliminate everything else first because the gearbox and engine need to be split. Mike
  4. Why did you change in the first place. Sounds to me like you have a release arm/bearing issue. I've had arms punch through and snap at one end. I've also seen release bearings melt. All of the above would give the issue you speak of. Mike
  5. Rubber collected form gotts this morning, discovery scrapped lunchtime and remaining bits of dead engines collected from tsd. Hopefully a friend is delivering a screen this weekend. Finally if the weather behaves 45's head gasket tomorrow it would help if the radiator I bought this week was actually a 200tdi item as opposed to the Lord knows what that arrived today. Mike
  6. The land rover goo is not a polyurethane (tigerseal sikaflex etc) but these will do the job provided you don't need to get the joint apart again. Arbo do a polysulfide (arbokol) and a mastic (arbomast). The former is half way between rubber seal (sika) and mastic. Arbomast we use on rudder heal fittings so its water tight but can be removed easily but it is sticky and messy. Mike
  7. To be honest half the reason for this thread is to entertain others because you can't make this up. But also for me to vent which helps me suck it up and move forward. I could give up buy a normal car but that's not me and the personal life part is not going to change. Advice, sarcasm and comments all welcome I'm definitely NOT looking for sympathy a windscreen yes but not sympathy. Mike
  8. I've got to the point now where nothing surprises me. The irony of this is the lr luck is only the half of it. I have a whole world of child related bad luck going on at the moment as Well. But we are all healthy, stressed, tried, busy and skint but healthy. Mike
  9. No I must admit I couldn't believe it at the time. I thought for a minute I was about to wear a windscreen. I'm having a hell of a job getting the screen sorted after checking 4 company's the earliest replacement is Monday! If I can find one I'll do it myself but my local lr specialist doesn't Carry them. Mike
  10. So the good news is the pigeon smashed an already smashed windscreen! JeffR here I come....... Mike
  11. No but I'm certainly getting there. Just keep swimming......... Mike
  12. Looks like new. Interestingly I've had a little fun with 200's recently and noticed two of them the scribe on the damper lined up with the case protrusion. The third was about 90° out fortunately I noticed after I'd timed it with the keys. Mike
  13. I was getting a sofa off the roof with my wife and it slipped out of my hand. I'd like to say thanks to everyone I've had a run of bad luck and needed to vent. Hopefully things are going to improve, if not this thread may go on a while....... Mike
  14. And the hits just keep coming! Just dropped something and you guessed it smashed the windscreen on the 110. Mike
  15. Well it wasn't a holed piston. Yes that is a 6mm gap in the head gasket between no4 piston and no8 cam follower. The head gasket has also gone in the middle at the back of no4 piston. So good news is I have a serviceable engine as a spare. I'm going to rob the head for 45 and use the head off the snapped cam engine or re-con 45's head for a spare. Mike
  16. I'm going to swap the head with the one from the holed piston engine assuming it's ok. The core plug thats gone is in the head anyway. Mike
  17. I suspected the head gasket had gone before it froze due to excess pressure in the header tank. But didn't have time to change it plus it's not the first time it' gone so I suspect the head is warped. Trouble is both our trucks are daily drivers so I was holding out for the ibex to go on the road. That way both could get some tlc without leaving us vehicleless. Mike
  18. Well the good news it the new motor is up and running after an oil leak from the cooler pipes and a stuck boost pin. However my luck hasn't improved much 45 has now blown another core plug so I'm now certain the head gasket has gone. This is not even funny any more I think I may be fixing this then selling 45. I simply don't have time for this and it's wearing thin on my boss. Mike
  19. Western it will varie from gearbox to gearbox due to wear in the linkages. Best you can do is wined it in or out by trial and error. If you can see the linkages it should be fairly easy to work out how much is needed. Mike
  20. That or the pop last time melted the wire insulation enough that when you refitted the alternator. The wire rubbed though/already had and shorted to the block thus causing the rest to melt and catch fire. Mike
  21. I was referring to the pitting on the pulley where it goes through the front cover seal. It may clean up with some merry cloth. As for the rubber I've seen worse but I'd be temptd to replace it. Mike
  22. The woodruff key lines up with the arrow for tdc. The tdc mark on the damper should line up with a casting line on the cover although some don't (I have one that doesn't). Use woodruff or flywheel for timing. I'd be more concerned about the state of the seal surface and would probably replace it. Mike
  23. Machine Mart do a automotive tap and die set it will cover most things on a land rover. Zeus book here https://m.box.com/shared_item/https%3A%2F%2Fapp.box.com%2Fs%2F4ulzu8egtjin3etmkyj5 Mike
  24. I can assure you facet pumps aren't all that great either. Granted not lr or diesel but I went through 4 warranty replacements on my Marcos before I gave up and went over to an su pump. The manual pump I took off the 110 had a shorter plunger than the replacement (came with spacer). I tried it without checking it didn't bottom out but it wouldn't pump. Fitted the spacer and it worked correctly. My assumption is one pump will fit several engines just with different spacer to allow for cam throw. Mike
