  1. Discovery 2 hubs/wheels would normally be 70.1mm or thereabouts, as would a P38, probably the best way to get a bit further is to take a couple of pictures so that we can see what the wheels are (or are not) and what the hub looks like. Welcome btw
  2. I never realised 'Trikes' were directional 🙃 , but I have to say. ... thats cool, ....... if a bit small.... Respect!
  3. But looking into it none of them seem rated for 'solvent', .... perhaps it is time I changed to water based.
  4. Went back to my parts washer after some time to find that the supplied immersed pump is toast. I run on a mixture of old petrol and kerosene (just because it is what I have) I would like to find a better pump for it and make some alterations to the way it is configured; but there doesn't seem to be much out there when you search for solvent pump. Any pointers?
  5. That does look sweet,..... is it significant that there is no linky? I mean you wouldn't want anyone else to get there first
  6. In the first instance, the welding looks great and the accuracy is almost certainly better than the original. Secondly I would take advice from almost anywhere before LR on the subject of painting and protecting chassis'!
  7. Wish my TIG was that 'rusty' !! ..... It looks pretty good this way up 👍
  8. If only it wasn't LHD! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=itMKo0d8cQ0
  9. Shops not sure,... but I hear the Land Rover Experience is fun, that wouldn't be very far from Ashcrofts?
  10. Great idea,... I did similar on the 110 and for D2 I put it in the front grill, saved opening the bonnet, removing the battery cover etc.

.... and don't be afraid to order in and wait a few days to get what you really want. Lots of online options, Blackcircles etc.
  12. In essence you just change the existing static tool post that sits on the compound (or cross) slide, for one designed in sections. Here is one guide from youtube. The second part of that video is actually key to success as VB points out.
  13. I have spent the day digging a bit into this and at lunch time I took the post off to clean it up a bit, and I am fairly sure there is a base location bushing missing. There is a brochure on Lathes.co.uk which shows it had a great spec. when new but yes, I have kind of come round to the conclusion that I'll update it, but keep the bits and try and find some more if I can. Only problem seems there is a great choice of 'mini' lathe options but not so much for a middling size, still getting my head round the options.
  14. I kind of agree, most particularly for different tool types. I have the small one pictured with a piece of 8mm in it, the other one is much larger, probably a 1" tool channel. It would be nice to have at least a parting tool holder and a perhaps a boring bar, and a 2nd basic tool holder of one size or the other. Just a good clean up, under all the muck I don't think there is anything that will prevent me using it, there are a couple of small repairs. Clearly the last shop it was in made extensive use of the coolant pump (in the 'permanent flood' mode) and everything is covered in dried cutting oil.
  15. Been looking for a while for something to come along at a sensible price..... It's very dirty, but not too badly worn, and is motivation to do some sorting and get started back in the workshop. (Warmer weather now hopefully on the way!) It came with a qctp, although not one I am familiar with .... Drehblitz? Which unfortunately only came with 2 holders. A quick search on the internet tells me there are a few sizes, I will measure up the tool post tomorrow and see if I can work out which one I have. Sadly no longer made and there doesn't seem to be a lot out there. Might have to bite the bullet and update? Not sure, but a shame as it seems a good system.
  16. Found it, between 11 and 12 minutes in Part 1, can't think how I missed it.
  17. Well thanks, I didn't think I had missed any but I must have, .... I'll have a backwards rummage.
  18. Just watched Uncut #128 , there seems to be a tantalising view of it as the walkabout starts most weeks now? Maybe time for an update? Pleeease 😉
  19. I have an old Kamasa which has put up with serious abuse, but I suspect the new ones aren't as good. @elbekko has a point, mind you Facom aren't as well represented in the UK, so that might not be very local and handy. On the other hand if you are buying one just get Halfords Advanced with the guarantee and then the same applies?
  20. Watching with interest Mike,... on the tyre front I just wonder how much 'Off-road' capability is really needed? Land Rover size wheels do put the c.o.g. up as well as ground clearance and I am guessing that on road manners (up to the West coast of Sctland?) are almost as important.
  21. I think he means the blow gun/airline, also good for starting a syphon 👍
