  1. That is without question a Discovery 200Tdi engine... the turbo location, V-belt, front cover, thermostat housing, oil filler cap, oil level guage position and type and inlet manifold are dead giveaways. 1990-1994 vintage. You need to fit a fan cowling as your fan is thrashing engine compartment air around and doing nothing for either you rad or intercooler. Oh - and your air filter box is an upturned 2.5 N/A diesel one... been mounted on its side.
  2. Paul and I really enjoyed the AWDC Challenge at Slindon - very unusual NOT to have a 10-hour round trip to get to an event! So nive in fact, we're thinking of entering the upcoming event at Slab... also just 'round the corner geographically!
  3. Where's it gonna be Nigel? I heard a rumour: Slindon? I liked Minstead!!!
  4. Amazingly geeky - and just amazing! http://www.snabbstart.com/film/otrolig-pri...ntkastning.aspx
  5. Me, in my last 200Tdi last year. Chris Watts in the background...
  6. About £2.50 More, if it has a full LR main dealer service history.
  7. >> nd not just cos he changes him mind more often than his socks Hey! I resent that remark! My mind is firmly made up that I don't know what I really want(!) I've at least been consistent in that for 2 year snow... V8...Tdi...V8....Tdi.....V8....Tdi...V8....Tdi...V8...Tdi.... V8...Tdi....V8....Tdi Oh, b*gger that, I bought a 90 with an Isuzu engine in it! OK.. that should read: "2 years now" not "2 year snow". By the way... I say let him post. Why don't you ask him for a donation via PM instead of airing the dirty laundry on the Forum? Nick seems like a jolly decent chap... he's bought stuff off me in the past and I've bought stuff off him. We've never met, but surely we're better off with his participation in this Forum than without. Our numbers do seem to be dwindling...
  8. >> when I've tuned the engine (coming soon). This would be the V8-eating, super-tastic 2.8 TGV then would it?
  9. It's you rlucky day Nigel - I have a pair spare. £15 the pair sound OK?
  10. Ditto that Andy... why not LPG? Seems the ideal solution to your fuel woes... Swapping out your V8 for a diesel is a heck of a lot more trouble.
  11. PM sent les - just don't let the Boss see! :-)
  12. ... and on that note, Les if you need one several months ago I tracked down a recon ZF Auto from a 300Tdi that is complete with everything. As I've now got an Isuzu 2.8TD I won't be using it, so it's available. I even sourced a 200Tdi ZF Auto backplate from Ashcrofts for it. Lemme know.
  13. Hi Steve, The Isuzu engine was in my car when I bought it a month ago... but I got the car from the mechanic who installed it, and talked to him extensively about the installation, which looks extremely straightforward. Mine is a 1989 2.8TD from an Isuzu Trooper LWB. It's mated to a standard LT77 via a Conversion & Precision adapter kit. A C&P kit includes literally everything you need and simply bolts straight on. Use an Isuzu clutch cover, but a Land Rover clutch plate. The Isuzu sump is fine and gives plenty of clearance. In fact, one of the benefits of the Isuzu 2.8 is its extremely small size - it's tiny relative to a Tdi and sits waaaaaaaay back in the engine bay. Use an electric fan. Downpipe is Isuzu I think, from there back it's a hotch potch of welded together bits n' bobs.... just like most Challenge 90's. The whole thing looks extremely easy to fit and having driven it on road and off for a month now I can thoroughly recommend the Isuzu 2.8TD. It is, as you say, dirt cheap in comparison with a genuine Tdi, but is far smoother, is noticeably more powerful/faster at mid-range revs and quieter overall. I haven't tested fuel economy yet. One downside - although very minor, is that there doesn't seem as much low-down grunt as a Tdi. The troque seems to come in a little higher up the rev range, so off-road a slight blip on the throttle is required to get the revs up to say 2,500 rpm before committing to steep slopes. Mind you, now I think of it, most Tdi's I've had you need to rev the nuts off to get up steep slopes too! What would I ideally like? A V8 with Auto that does 30mpg. Guess I'll be sticking with the Isusu 2.8 for now then! Certainly better than a Tdi, in my opinion. Also, here in UK on eBlag these Isuzu 2.8's can be bought for between £200-£600 for the complete engine. Will take photos at the weekend and post.
  14. Oh no! Man, you've put so much effort into that car I thought you'd keep it for life. Are you quitting the sport in frustration or getting a replacement? There are some good 90's around at the mo quite cheapish - for example, I just bought myself a 90 with Isuzu 2.8TD, all new suspension and a fresh year's MOT for £1,550! And it's rock-solid underneath. Don't lose motivation... get a replacement.
  15. Sorry - but it's not my taste. Winston Churchill and a Series 1 have nothing to do with why I'm a Landie nut. Here's an idea - most folks on this Forum are pretty into the off-roading side of things (rather than rivet-counting).. how about a background image of a challenge 90 or off-roader with the LR4x4.com title? Can you work on that? Whadda people think? PS - sounds corny, but I htink the chrome-effect letters would also look great. Certainly stand out more than green/yellow.
  16. I currently have a very nice 3.5 EFI complete engine, and ZF Auto combo, complete with ECU, Plenum, everything, sitting unwanted on my driveway. Very good engine too - removed from donor Rangie the day after it had a fresh MOT. £300 for complete engine incl. all EFI gubbins, £250 for ZF Auto. Both together - discount! Ready to go - you'd have it all in by Sat evening! And yes, all the EFI stuff works fine. And yes, I'll even warrant it!
  17. WOW! I'm surprised Nige... I thought you're rear winch mount weighed that much on its own! Seriously though, that's 200-300 Kgs less than i thought it would weigh... good news!
  18. Fed up with the nonsense and have joined the Isuzu Forum!
  19. This is really silly now.... Type "Land Rover Addict" into Google and guess what? Yes, you get that other bunch... WTF is going on ?
  20. 2 words: "Fcuk LRE". Why don't we all make posts over there saying "Move to LRA" (pretty immature and will probably be deleted). So... Who are the people running the new/old LRE Forum anyway? WHo are they, ho's funding them, what are their objectives and why are they propagating another Forum under an old (but changing) banner that simply causes confusion? Can't we simply invite them to join us in here?
  21. Thanks Tony & chaps... Gosh they're not cheap are they? £40 + VAT for a nozzle and some hose? Wher'es my nearest B&Q?
  22. Dear Tones, On t'old place you posted some piccies of a wonderful little backwards-angled nozzle for a Karcher pressure washer (IIRC)... where'd you get it from? I got me a new (old) 90 with a chassis full of crud!
  23. Where did the word Biatch come from? Seems everyone's using it these days...
  24. Thanks Ibexman... will take piccys tomorrow and also call you. Simon
  25. I have a super nice one but it's not cheap.. £500. It's a wide-track Sankey (the type with the tailgate). The electrics have been converted to 12V with a regular 7-pin trailer socket. It still has the NATO drawbar coupling which I find useful because it's a lot less likley to get nicked. Has drop-down stabiliser bars at rear. Spare wheel/tyre and all 3 tyres in very good condition. Condition-wise, imagine a new Sankey that's had about 2yrs use... I dunno how old it actually is but the previous owner said it looked like it was NATO reserve stock when he bought it - it still had the manufacturers' grease on it in places. Oh, and everything on it works - lights, electrics, stabilisers, tailgate, drawbar, reversing lock, brakes...
