  1. Nige - seems like an awful lot of hassle to go distributorless... why not just buy a 4.0 or 4.6 GEMS engine? Also, I thought you'd just bought that nice waterproof Military dizzy off Ripley?
  2. OK, I admit I'm hopeless with electrics.... What does a relay do, and why do you need one in a circuit in, for example, an electric fan?
  3. Bummer Chris! Will you make it to Slindon still... tailgate?
  4. So where can I buy one of these little wonders?
  5. Tonk, if you need a proper one I have 2 spare complete Defender 90 steering columns, both of which have 4-spoke plastci steering wheels already on them. £40 ea, can deliver to Slindon this Sunday... At least you'll be sure they all fit together properly instead of faffing around figuring out what splines fit what?
  6. Not mine, but just saw this on eBlag... wonder what it goes like? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LAND-ROVER-3-9-V8-TU...1QQcmdZViewItem
  7. How much is a TGV? £3.5k? How much is an Isuzu 2.8TD? £300? Guess which I'd go for if it had to be a diesel... Frankly, I'd stick with teh V8 if it's a plaything. If a daily driver, get the Isuzu engine. Uncle Jez is the resident expert.
  8. Chris, if you need a tailgate I have 2 spare at the mo... £12 ea.
  9. No problem Chris - they didn't fall out the back then? Glad to hear they'll work out well for you. Hope the journey home was smooth.
  10. Bleeding 'eck, I've never seen so much fuss over copying a simple DVD. Just pop over here Nige and we'll do it in a jiffy using my Apple Mac! Mac The Ripper is a free download also... as is most Mac software these days. And unlike that Windoze cr@p it all works!
  11. Google for "Mac The Ripper".. works first time, every time, no problems. Oh, but of course, you need to get a proper computer to use it.
  12. PM sent Pugwash - one out of car and ready to go - AND with only 38k KM!
  13. I've sent stuff longer than that before via www.parcels2go.com but you pay extra. Still may be reasonable though...
  14. Last Rangie I had I coul dput my whole hand inside the sills from below! Current one's absolutely rock solid, but most aren't. Yours looks pretty good to me! Localised, small holes, patches should sort it.
  15. What year did LR introduce the Self-Levelling Strut on Range Rovers?
  16. Yep, that was me! Changed my Softdash Auto Tdi Rangie for a same year 325 Convertible. Nothing's fallen off it or stopepd working in 5 months, and I realised when I filled up the washer bottle the other week it was the very first time I'd opened the bonnet since September. Pure pleasure! Mind you, I have my Sh**box Rangie in the driveway and enough chassis', axles, engines, gearboxes and panels spread aroun dmy garden to build 2 complete 90's!
  17. I lived there for 6 years and wheeled in Moab (al lover Utah as well) Arizona, Colorado and California. They are all great, you wouldn't be disappointed with any of them. If you want a week-long concentrated wheeling experience go to Moab because there is simply so much there - so many trails you'll think you've died and gone to heaven. But it can be a truck-destroyer too. Arizona, specifically around Sedona, Flgstaff etc has some great trails - less intense than Moab but excellent none the less. Holed my gearbox sump and lost all oil whilst wheeling a roack-strewn dry creek bed. We were 2hrs out from nearest habitation - that was fun! California has a lot too - the Rubicon being of natable repute but you must go when the snow has cleared (May thru Oct). This is a really technical, demanding trail. Colorado is good too - but fairly tame by comparison with Moab, Cali etc. If you go to California, which is where I lived, you could do the Rubicon, plus there are several 4-wheeling parks such as my old local one: Hollister Hills. They recently held a rock-crawling Pro Competition there... excellent place!
  18. Got to look at what's sellable? Chassis? - If needs welding now, it'll need more next year etc, so is probably pretty bad... Engine? 2.25 anyone? Yeah, right. Panels - yes, if good, bulkhead £100, doors (lift-up handle I assume) £100/pair, tub £50, wings £50/pair, bonnet £50 if good, £25 if not, screen - no one seems to want them, hard top or truck cab £100-£250 Axles - £100 for front, £0 if rear is drum-braked And that's about it, so I reckon Chris' £600 estimate is about right.
  19. Not sure I can make it that day yet Paul, but I'd be happy to set out some punches for those brave enough (heh heh!!) Can also do a winch demo/instruction if anyone needs to know which end of their winch is which.
  20. 1. Angle-ground my hand through leather rigger glove... although healed well! 2. Set fire to stomach area of fleece while angle-grinding as I'd forgotten to zip up overalls... bending over, thinking "b**dy hell, that's getting warm down there (looks down) - Oh S**t" 3. Whilst walking past rear axle which was in garden on axle stands last summer I tripped over it, it fell off the axle stand onto my foot (was wearing open-toed sandals) I screamed "F**K!!!!" whilst jumping backwards, bashed head/shoulder into car so hard it threw me forwards, again tripping over the axle cart-wheeling though mid air to face-plant hard on concrete. Just for good measure this incident also completely ripped the very large road-rash scab off my elbow that had been healing for the previous 2 weeks that I got when I crashed my bike! I took a break from anything LR-related for 6 weeks after that. Man, was I peed off!
  21. So how do the doors close? There's no place to mount the door latch... Looks like it leaves a very flimsy leading edge to the wing as well - or is there somethign extra missing here?
