Suction mounts are the key for the quick fits IMHO Take a look here I've used the smaller ones for a bullet lens, but I wouldn't hang a full blown camera off of a small one. Years ago I spent a lot of money on a DV cam with an analogue input for an external lens. This option is cheaper now-a-days but you still need to do external mic as well. My Canon S2 stills camera takes very good video considering what it is. 640x480 at a good frame rate. Big files until compressed though. I think Jez had one of the Oregon cameras Look at the Adventure Cam that is an expensive option on new Range Rovers for ideas. Hope it helps Andy

I know you started this thread Nigel - but its not aimed at you - got it This magazine thing seems to be a recurring issue - along with "Which Welder?", Scorpion Racing, winch classes etc which this and other forums seem to cover again and again. The mags try and cover all bases. Thats why they have front covers showing their features, and an index telling you exactly what is in the magazine. I've spent thousands of hours checking out magazines in newsagents, some I buy, some I put back. If you think the articles are worth you £3-£4 - complete the purchase, if not walk away. If you subscribe and are un-happy - cancel. Its pretty easy really - I've been buying magazines for years Take this forum as a parallel example - I like it, I contribute, I read, I post. All is well. But do I complain about all the Series content, because I'm not interested in Series ? Do I complain about the bad advice telling newbies to go out and buy a kinetic rope? No I take the rough with the smooth, filter out what I need and am happy with my lot - same with magazines. If there was a magazine called "4x4 Modification" people would buy it, but then people would complain that they can't relate to the features beacuse they don't have a divorced Atlas transfer box, or don't see the need to rebuild a brand new £1000 winch, when what they want is to be able to bolt on some side steps so Granny can get in the back. Is that a Solidworks drawing ? If so is it possible to export the design into 2D, so you can give it to a laser cutter, or even just plot it out on paper ? Andy

Has anyone got a picture or a diagram similar to this But of a 110 CSW ? I'm trying to plan an expedition vehicle, so I'm going to mock up the back with a scale model, to see if I can fit everything in. So any dimensions etc also would be a great help. Thanks

If you are expected to be in an office smartly dressed at 9am on Monday morning - it doesn't really work at all. If you get home at 5pm on Sunday night, and the vehicle is filthy inside and out - its a PITA. Especially when everything is cold/dark/wet. People driving home from site days with windows they can't see out of and with broken lights/mirrors is a pet hate of mine, doing it on the way to work on a Monday morning is in-excusable IMHO If you go green-laning on a Saturday - then that'd work. Think laterally - take the train, buy a motorbike, date a fat burd with a nice car, get a job where you don't have to work Mondays

It allows me to slide it out, and load the basket in easily. So I can pack the basket with food and beer in the house, and then just drop it in. Again its made from cast-offs from computer installations - the price the expedition people charge is mad. If they weren't so damn heavy - I'd send you some - check ebay for 19" rails/slides and get handy with your pop-rivet gun

Jim Some useful links - but damn those catches are expensive For rails - find someone who works in IT - real IT not desktop PC and they might be able to lay their hands on some runners from 19" cabinets. The ones I just got for my co-driver from a Fujitsu PrimePower server, he says are like jewelery they are made so nicely - and he's a watchmaker by trade. Are you talking about the Land Rover swaying on its springs ? I saw a Swiss couple carried 2 x standard Defender jacks, I believe they used these like caravan steadies. Would this help with your design flaw ?

I've been researching Expedition style Land Rovers for a while. Came across this, though it might be of interest Looks really sweet IMHO - plenty of space inside the Landie, and for sleeping, also scope for making a Safari room under the fold out tent. Put an Eberspacher in the Land Rover and keep it all warm Its not in production yet But here is their previous effort Not worthy of the Tate Gallery, but not bad - its seems the DIY kit, for that model is about £1800 which compares well with a fancy roof rack with a grands worth of roof-tent on it. My T-max double compressor takes 30amps - measured with a clamp meter. The spec says it takes up to 70amps, but mine hasn't blown any 30amp fuses yet. No way are you going to get that kind of current through a ciggy lighter. Andy
