I don't know about hydraulics, but they do need to be autoreverse.
The yanks put a solenoid in the brake line, hooked up to the reversing lights.
I was looking at the back 1/2 of a 4x4 as a trailer, rather than use the tank for water, I was going to use it for fuel.
Here is a link to the US valves
I had such a close escape - driving my first LR a SIII into an on-coming Rolls Royce within 500yards of buying it
I've driven a LandCruiser around LandCruiser mountain park
I've broken down in an Isuzu twice
Nothing else to prove as at 5'2" my dad isn't bigger than anyone elses dad
Willwood also make master cylinders. I've got one of theirs on my Range Rover servo in MogLite.
MogLite needed a big master cylinder for the Unimog slave cylinders. I think mine is 1 1/8" so it moves a lot more fluid.
Willwood should be able to recommend a master cylinder size for your brakes.
Andy
Is the Jap stuff for you - my Isuzu is the same. Compared to a LR, the alternator costs twice the amount, lasts three times longer, but takes four times the time to fit !!!
With a basic toolkit, I reckon it would take the best part of a day to change my Isuzu 3.1TD altternator. Less with a good socket set and ratchet spanners, but a field repair would be a PITA.
Andy
I've got a German Stema 750kg trailer
One of these http://www.soundray.org/anh2/trailer.html
Had it for about 6 years and its never put a foot wrong. I think you need a "proper" trailer when towing across Europe, homebuilts and ex-MOD may be illegal - but I'm not sure.
Hope it helps
Wow - I can almost breath easy. Its taken a bunch of work to sort the booking out of an MOD site. But judging by the reactions it was worth the effort. There seemed to be a lot of happy 4x4'ers today.
I've never seen the Shires marshalls and committee work so hard (not that they are a lazy bunch - far from it). When we added up the numbers at the end of the day and found we had 116 paying trucks - the penny dropped - we had our biggest event to date
Thanks to all that drove for being very well behaved, it was only really the wet sand and water that caused us issues.
Lets hope we can do it again sometime soon.
Andy
Hardcore got my attention......
But I feel a little short-changed, yes to machining, degreasing and black paint.
But as for hardcore, where is the turbo that doesn't fit in a wheelbarrow, and an exhaust so large it can confuse a chicken. Nitrous ? Propane ? 30 psi of boost going into an intercooler the size of a London flat ?
Nah - I call an EXTREME rebuild
Good show Simon, if you are already a member - send it to Southhampton, if you need membership and advance booking - either will do - we'll work it out.
Andy
I use PC navigator 7 - have been using it for about 12 months.
I like it so much I bought a copy ( you know where this is leading !!)
Autoroute is fine to use on the desk, but in a car the way it gives directions is positively dangerous IMHO.
Andy
Yeah there is plenty of time to get your forms in.
We can't take memberships on the day I'm afraid - doing the paperwork on the gate just doesn't work for us.
Hope to see you there.
Andy
I dunno a about a list of clubs.
SAD's, Wessex Hill Runners, HBRO and Muddy Bottom 4x4 spring to mind
Shire LRC are pretty close being Southampton area, and I'm on the committee so I've got to recommend that one.
We've got a driving day on the 30th - so you don't need to look any further Slab common and its going to be a good one.
Andy
As you've not given us any clues
What model of Range Rover you have - they've been making them for almost 40 years - there are a few variants !!
Or your intended use
Mild off road ?
Extreme off road ?
Rabbit hunting ?
Expedition ?
Show ?
as just a few examples
I think I'm gonna suggest a full width grille as a starting point.
See below
Ipod Classic 80GB
Or a Canon S5 digicam have been my two best gadgets of late.
I've actually only got a Canon S2, but S5 is the current one, I've had a play with it, and the big LCD is lush.
Andy
I caught these on the Gadget Show
Basically its a 12V microwave, connect it to your cigarette lighter, or for better performance - straight to the battery.
According to the Gadget show, it works, but is slower than domestic microwave.
Sounds great for camping to me - about 200USD but I can't find anyone selling them in the UK
Here is a link to some info!
