  1. Does anyone know if you can get tekaloid in metallic?
  2. These come from a marine environment and so should be ok, ive just got to work out how and where to plumb them in!
  3. Slow - like most things time is a major issue (altho now im redundant i have the time but not the money!) and having moved my new workshop is a stable on a farm rather than the well equipt workshop i used to use. New transmission tunnel is in with difflock/hi-lo linkages, compushift loom is in attached to the 4hp22 autobox and things are progressing well, on the floor in front of me i have 2 oil/water coolers for the gearbox (like a laminova but much cheaper) so i have to fit them and then i get to find out if the gearbox works....
  4. Its a disco chassis on that one. SVA is a yes for them all because of chassis mods. Q plate depends on how its done, the 2 existing in this country are running original plates from their donor vehicles because they are done very differently to mine. Mine is currently not registered and may end up on a Q, it all depends on the points system and the person counting as mine came from either new parts or a single donor vehicle but was build using a new chassis and doesnt and never has had a V5 so registration for me is a lot more complex. If you have any other questions about them just ask either here or PM - there is a build thread for mine round here somewhere too!!
  5. Have you thought about loft insulation, not the glass fibre type but the hi-tech layered space blanket type. Its very effective and thin, not particually expensive either. Whatever you do youll likely still get condensation because water naturally gathers on the coldest surface, if its not the roof, itll be the sides, or quite possibly the windows!
  6. If they use it for the oil industry in pump and compressor casings it cant be that bad!! (metal stitching that is) As for stopping the fracture drilling the ends works on aircraft wing fractures on planes that are still in service, so in theory if you can find the end youll stop the fracture so i'd get hunting al!!!
  7. Task is right - in essence it will mean that those of us who are legit but forget or mislay paperwork will get done whereas those who really drive illegally will continue to get away with it.
  8. The fine is actually from 100, upto 1000. It is only applicable to those who have not declared SORN and when questioned do not have a good reason why the car doesnt have insurance. They allegidly will allow enthusiasts to keep cars which are off the road and uninsured. EDIT: Heres the link from the RAC
  9. Seems pretty poor that you've nto heard anything Tony, especially as others have
  10. If i remember correctly its in aus.....the flight is a day or so.....i think i'll pass as i doubt there will be anything left by the time i arrive
  11. Yes, i was after the one with the puma and D3 in it
  12. With the exception of the lock-tited ones every bolt/nut on the d-lander is assembled with copper grease, if it doesnt last years then so be it, but while shes still being built and things are begin done up, then 3 months later undone its certainly proved useful so far
  13. Its just a shame the version of microcat is so out of date despite the "new version coming soon" notices - even they are old!
  14. That looks like the kinda thing, youll need the gasket for the rocker cover iirc.
  15. I'm sorry but its simply not true - insurance companies can and do cancel policies and refuse to pay out because of things wrongly declared, mods that are not declared correctly, or for somthing like a vehicle that should have an SVA and doesnt - its a fact and ive seen it happen.
  16. Should be a piece of cake for you to do, as chris says its fairly cheap and easy to fit
  17. If it needs an SVA and doesnt have one then the MOT in invalid because the SVA comes first thus rendering everything after completely worthless unless its been done (which it hasnt). Regardless of declaring mods, if the car does need an SVA then the insurance company would void the cover and thus reduce it to the min required (TPO) by the road traffic law in event of an accident - they have an option as to honor or not any policy and are very good at wriggling, somthing like this would provide them with no worries at all when it comes to not paying! If its pre SVA yes, correct there are no issues - however if its post SVA then its illegal, uninsured, untaxed and not mot'd. (altho it doesnt have an mot anyway)
  18. The insurance would be invalid - however even in this case the insurance company have to honour the 3rd party liability part which means you'd get your money from their insurance, they however would get nothing. More to the point the MOT is worthless, it needs an SVA and new reg plate (Q) and has no tax because its not genuinely exempt!
  19. And the reply.... The previous owner converted it to coils and he was a mechanic, so I assume that he would have gone through the correct roads to make it road legal, but I dont know what an SVA is, so I am not 100% sure to be honest with you..
  20. smo

    Oops!

Dear god man, looks like you are lucky to be alive. I wish you and your gf the speediest of recoveries and good luck finding a new truck....perhaps one with a cage for extra protection???
  21. EPi9 or TDS Goldfish (ep9 thats been waterproofed essentially) would be your best bet imho. Youll find a fair few similar threads if you search the forum tho as its regually discussed.
