    Diff Ratio

Colin - you are correct, compushift does allow you to lock up the TC. I'm still undecided on what to do....lol
  2. Make it happpen in the south rather than the bloody north and youll get a load more entrants

    Diff Ratio

    Gear ratios - 4HP22 1st 2.480 : 1 2nd 1.480 : 1 3rd 1.000 : 1 4th 0.728 : 1 Reverse 2.086 : 1 Transfer box 1.410 as stated and diffs 3.54:1
  4. I'm pondering the ratios for my diffs in the d-lander.... She's pretty light by comparison to a 90 TD5 engine (mildly tuned) 4HP22 Autobox with compushift 1.410 Transfer box 37" Maxxis Creepys (to be joined with similar size simex/boggers) Will the standard 3.54 diffs be ok or do i really need to consider 4.11/4.7's??
  5. Propshafts are a possibility - check the UJ's Output shaft wear from the gerarbox is a possibility
  6. How long is a piece of string?? You should safely be able to run either simex or boggers of those sizes without problems however it depends a lot on your driving style and how heavy your right foot, the ground conditions etc. Out of interest why did you just buy lockers and shafts and stuff??
  7. 3/16 pipes with 10mm unions on mine, it might vary with age tho.
  8. WOW, thats quite some workshop Al. I'd offer to come and help but its a bit of a trek since i moved to devon so i wish you all the best with the concreting.
  9. Its just another way of fleecing us all, you have to send a new photo too - my renew letter arrived last month and this has reminded me to send it off as altho i could do without the £17.50 ripoff charge i really cant afford the £1k fine!!!
  10. I'd agree with Tonys sentiments, he has indeed popped a guage in the post for me, Marcus has offered me a bit of tube and plate i need and not so long ago milemarkertypeR lent me a box spanner, i'll always try and help people out in return and went and offered labour til 3am for the petal build and returned the following weekend to continue. A really good bunch, helpful, knowledgabe and friendly, couldnt really ask for more
  11. Tony - i know the feeling of falling bottles!!! I might be able to help wiht the guage, one of mine leaks since the fall, but i believe the working one is the one you need, i'll check for you in the morning, if its the right one i can pop it in the post.
  12. Will - what do Lotus use for the actual bond in addition to the rivets??
  13. I'd check the DMF first before even thinking about it - essentially if its not broken dont fix it!
  14. Definately use acid etch otherwise as said its a non starter, you might find using a scotchbrite pad will also help to key the surface before this for extra bonding.
  15. EP90 is EP90 - however shell is a good brand so it definately wont be rubbish, well worth it at that price i reckon. If its sold in an agri place then its for use in tractors and combines and the likes - most of which cost considerably more than our beloved defenders so if its good enough for them....
  16. Back to the original topic....what size are the wheels/tyres to reqiure moving the axle?? The only reason is to clear the outrigger which means 38"+
  17. A stud extractor is your best bet, as its hollow you dont even need to drill the old nipple, just screw the extractor in and itll come out
  18. If you mean the things that look like a computer fan and claim to give 50,0000BHP...its utter rubbish, there is no way a fan of any kind of that size could produce more air than the ram effect of a moving vehicle at 50..60..70 etc. Performance gain is nil, bling gain is nil!
  19. Its fine, apparently its a new name for what used to be called EP90
  20. No, the cage gets in the way, i believe they make one for roll cages tho which is a slightly different shape.
  21. Its been discussed before so a search will help, alternatively look on the crowndiffs website as Steve has excellent explainations of all types on there.
  22. It is indeed an electronic box will so it may be my best option to keep the original, just wondered if there were any alternatives.
  23. I have a TD5 autobox (4hp22) in my d-lander, as im just about to fit the "original" disco gear selector i was wondering if there are any alternatives to this huge chunk of plastic??
  24. Thats plan B marcus, but it means sourcing some plate, tube and getting it cut and then tigged - probably resulting in an expensive solution!
