  1. Post pictures and I will see what I can remember. I have a CSK with one type and have had several classics over the years.
  2. Had a Disco 2 for a year now and just spent double what I paid for it because the chassis was rotten. Should have scrapped it and started again. Pros and cons with the Disco and the P38. I like both for different reasons and once i have all the bugs out of my P38 I think I will have a very good car. (And probably be bankrupt )
  3. Greg I have just done my disco as you know and that cost me an arm and a leg. I could have bought a new car for the money I spent. Not sure I would do it again.
  4. I have had/got two. The first a 2000 Vogue lasted 9 months on the road before the electronics went crazy having changed the engine repaired the compressor and changed the rear air bags. The second I bought for peanuts and have changed the engine (knew this before I bought) and so far 2 months in seems a very nice car. My advice after the first was don't buy another P38 but I loved it so much to drive that i could not help myself.
  5. Greg Sorry to hear that but as you say at least it is an easy fix. Is that part of the chassis that you replaced?
  6. Me to but people who live in Ayrshire are really a strange breed.
  7. If they go on a D2 they will fit a P38 I have both and have interchanged as required in the past.
  8. If it was lifted by the tail with the straps around the chassis it would be a straight lift. When setting it down the nose would hit first but that would not be a problem because the nose was bashed anyway.
  9. To be fair to the driver the strap will be rated for 5 tonnes or more so well capable of lifting the Disco.. There are so many ways he could have lifted it out without causing unnecessary damage. Until the insurance companies start fining the recovery companies for mistreating the cars then nothing will change. It is just pure negligence.
  10. Dave Spot on!! Got the chance today to spend time bleeding the system, once I I had seen a Youtube Video. Noise has gone and the steering is fine. Took it for a 10 mile drive and she was as smooth as silk. Am really looking forward to driving her. Just now need to sort the little niggles that are driving me nuts.
  11. The worst damage done to that car was during the recovery process. The pinching of the roof would probably mean that the car gets prematurely scrapped. If it had been lifted by the wheels it most likely could have been repaired. Even lifting it by the tail would have been much better. Ultimately it is all of us that pay through our insurance premiums.
  12. After rebuilding the chassis and having a full service I have now put 2500 miles on mt Disco. In the last 1000 miles I averaged 30.2 MPG which I am really pleased with. Can I get better?
  13. I have a number of blue boxed parts on my Disco after rebuilding my Chassis. I ran a thread on her about it and decided to avoid BP where ever I was buying however some parts arrived through other routes. I fitted then and have so far covered 3000 miles without any problems.
  14. I would agree with that. My CSK still ran after 10k miles.
  15. Just unlucky I think. As you say over zealous plod.
  16. I guess I have more luck. I do think the authorities would have backed down if you had written a letter. You are allowed a certain amount of grace for taxing the car. Particularly with the new online service.
  17. MG I would not worry about it too much you are complying with the law. If they cannot check at the time they will check on Monday. It is not a big deal. Will you have someone following you? If so they can verify what is happening. The chance of a cop stopping you is remote the chance of a traffic cop stopping you is even more remote particularly in that part of the country.
  18. MG I take it you are going to Kirkoswald? The cameras on the 77 are only speed cameras are they not? Last year I inadvertently (had it but the paperwork was incorrect) was without insurance and I spend a lot of time on the 77 and never heard a peep so do not worry on that score. I think you will be Ok
  19. A freind of mine did something similar. He bought a car without MOT in Kent and arranged his MOT the next day in Kilmarnock in Scotland. At 2am in the morning his car was pinged by the police number plate recognition camera car and was pulled over. He said "I know I am pushing the limits of the law but I have just bought the car and the MOT is booked for tomorrow and I am going directly to the MOT station." The police laughed and sent him on his way having checked his insurance.
  20. Om I have not touched the car for two weeks and went out started first time and thought I would take it for a run. Got to the end on my drive and went to turn the steering and it was very stiff and lumpy. Drove back down the drive and started turning back and forth thinking that since the rebuild the system needs bled to get the fluid all the way through. The pump since the re-installation has been making a h*ll of a din. The fluid was low so topped it up and turned the steering back and forth repeatedly. The fluid frothed up and overflowed. What I want to know is, is the power steering pump knackered or have I just got air in the system? I have a spare pump so it is a relatively easy fix if need be but would sooner do the necessary changes with the benefit of knowledge rather than experimentation.
  21. If there is problems Radwled will not solve it but there is K-Seal and a another ceramic tyoe of sealer that you could try. The ceramic sealer I have used to great success in my CSK which had driven over 10,000 miles since it was literally blowing steam out of the exhaust. The first round of sealer reduced the problem the second cured it. For £30 it is worth a try.
  22. Have the same issue. Mine went on after hitting a speed bump were reset and the next time I went over the speed bumps same again. Have left it for now but I will check the dash and the gearbox. Need to take the dash out anyhow as my heater matrix is leaking.
  23. Bowie I think now you mention it it was a Sprintex that he had.
  24. Two good ideas will try both when I am next in the car. Thanks guys
  25. Leigh A friend of mine had a supercharger fitted to his Range Rover Classic many years ago. As far as I can remember there was not a bulge in the bonnet I am sure that the bonnet was totally normal,
