  1. Ring Dave Bowyer and ask for a TDS 8500 motor - it's basically an EP9 4.6 unit. The 5.6 and 6.6 will fit but the M8000 isn't man enough for that kind of grunt. You could fit a Warn 6hp motor from an Xp but they use American hp wich is soft, delicate and girly. Oddly enough I am just re-building an M8000 for a customer - lovely winch one of the two decent winches made by Worn Runs. grabs hard hat and dives into trench to await the Warn Winches Rule the World Saddos
  2. Lokks so much like my own engine bay - that huge space in front of the engine. I have yet to get my pipe work right...

  4. How the hell can you blame Tony for a broken caliper - was he driving?
  5. That's the sort of thing that should be dumped in the trash bin straight away Big question is why wasn't it?
  6. Sound comment, well put and true and seconded by me. Points to be noted: As OF says anyone on here who 'lanes regularly will be guilty of maybe just pushing it a bit far once or twice, it's just that 'old hands' at laning know how any and all potential bad publicity is turned against the 4x4/2x1 movement. GB Mud knows more about Wiltshire lanes than most, his attitiude to laning in general is as solid as it is possible to get - in my book his decision is final as both Mod and Laner. No information on the whereabouts of lanes should be published on an open forum in my book - that's speaking as an ex RoW for Glass. All Dorset lanes information is available through FoDRoW - an excellent organisation. I have driven Hell Lane and am happy to discuss it via PM with others The use of aggressive tyres and 'lockers on a greenlane is completely unnessessary. If you need more than a set of MT's and a bit of nonce then what the hell are you doing there anyway? Walking a green lane first is mandatory if you suspect it is more than a hard track Bitching at each other over subjects like this is part of the reason we lost so many lanes, doing it on a public forum that is on the Ramblers 'Watch List' is about as stupid as it gets. A quite off forum chat with a less than experienced but keen forumeer would have sorted all this. Despite my loathing of all the 'locking' going on at the moemt, this thread should be locked and thrown away, quickly and quietly
  7. JU tell him to stop poncing about and get on and finish - how hard can it be!
  8. RT01's were the best mud tyre I have ever used - like a BFG just taller in size, longer lasting, stronger sidewall and better grip. You can't get them any more according to the main importers so I have RT03's which are slightly smaller on the OD but still very strong, excellent in the mud depite the weird tread pattern and the best MT on the road I have yet used - include in this package a very respectable fuel consumption figure Never used the STT but Young Kev Baldwin rated them and his word is good for me
  9. May need to replace some air springs on a budget - anyone got any experience?
  10. As and when Dave Lang (Landrover598) gets back from his world travels of the UK, give him a shout as he nocked up the spacers for me As an alternative you could buy in a couple of TDS chassis as I am pretty sure they will fit both motor and gear box off the EP9
  11. Jim Option A is a waterproofed EP9 with a 5.6 bowmotor Option B is a 4.6 EP9 with increased rope capacity Option C is a 4.6 High Speed X9 Option D is a Warn M8000 with a 4.6 motor I have some spare solenoids but am a bit bushed for cables at the mo I have a couple of spare Dyneemas If you ask nicely I could let you borrow my TDS as it is about to come off for a replacement winch bumper fitting I also have a spare rear mount which will fit to your tow hitch bolt pattern
  12. Jimbob I have two in the garage - feel free to borrow one
  13. No worries - give me a ring prior
  14. Tony I have a load of motorbike ones in the garage that you are welcome to have - make up a couple of good ones out of the lot
  15. How bad are the holes? Your vehicle is easy to whip the rear tub off and the front wings so unless we are talking less chassis more holes it would be easier to repair. Buy a welder and do a Bish - the job he has done on his 90 is top dog (just don't tell him I said so) and I would imagine very cost effective
  16. a cheap G is what you walk away from; a decent mid 80's will still cost good money. Find a 200GD or 2.8GD with a blown engine, grab a cheap Musso and swap in the 2.9 five cylinder TD The Nissan will be tougher than a tough thing unless the rust worm has taken hold - the 4.2 is a lovely lump capable of well over 500K Watch out for a shot chassis on the trooper and run away from the 3.0ltr 16v Indi Fourtracks are pants and leafers are too old now A hi-lux has a low towing weight - a mere 2.2 tonnes but the 3.0Na double cab is the dogs dangley bits Avoid Pajero's, parts are different spec to Shoguns, look out for poor maint on the very coolant particular engines. The 2.8 is the better choice but a good vehicle will hold it's value
  17. No worries mate - all in a days work - what litlle I did. Mark say's no worries; just spend years worrying that you owe him a favour and he might just turn up and ask for your first born in return!
  18. me being dislexic (sp?) it's a 4BD1 It's the same set up as a Perentie and beloved of most LR owners in Aus It's the whole shebang - all bolted together and proven with PS pump and aircon pump, rad if needed
