  1. Pete Rowe rusn over 600ft/lb and 'Lots' of BHP - has done for years and years. Uses Dana 60 side gears and 36mm dia unobtanium half shafts
  2. The ep9 and the EP9.5 are different animals Based on the same innovative concept of a brake on the end of the gear box, heavier duty shaft, stronger gear sets etc; the 9.5 was more modern in looks, stronger chassis, bigger motor. There are two distinct variations - one with the EP9 style solenoid box and one with a forward facing solenoid box that reveals most of the delicate wiring. It's a good winch, rare (I've only worked on a handfull) and now 'out of stock' with seemingly all the retailers. Internals are mostly shared with the EP9 - but not all. It's reliable - as relaible as the EP9 as well as being a tadge quicker than it's little brother. Sales were poor due to the Champion TDS/Goodwinch Goldfish which is stronger, pulls harder and costs a damn sight less. A decent deal on a S/H EP9.5 is not to be sniffed at By the way Mike, it will only be the brake if some silly sod has taken it apart and got the shims the wrong way round when reasembled... The motor takes the same brushes as a 5hp EP motor or a Bowmotor
  3. Forgot to say the EP9.5 has a warning light system on the wander lead. As they are less common than a rocking horse stool I can't remember if it is a two light system or a one. Speak to Dave Potter/Porter, the Tech man at Superwinch in Tavistock. He's a lovely bloke and full of knowledge
  4. Mike What solenoid are you using? You should have red/live black/earth blue/switched live yellow or white/switched live... The control relies on red, blue and yellow/white. Most cheap wireless remotes have a white aerial. Give me some more details old lad
  5. I've found that no silencers isn't as good as just the back box...
  6. For that much weight I would go Green/yellow/red progressives
  7. I have an Alisport 300Tdi 'cooler designed for the auto Disco so it's the same size as the OE 'cooler but deeper - 50% more 'cooling and fits in the OE hole. Works well
  8. I'm told that not enough back pressure with cause oil starvation in the turbo through excess scavenge.... Might be worth checking on this
  9. I tend to lean towards the quality shock with a remote reservoir...
  10. "I don't think, without a major internet trawl, it would be easy to turn up a replacement bush. Will have to keep an eye on that then - why is it you can never 'fit and forget' something on these motors!" Give Richard at SuperPro a bell with the Dims
  11. Try fitting decent bushings - cold pour polyeurethane jobbies. Lengthens the life somewhat
  12. Thing to remember with twing shocks is that they musn't be the same damping rate. I had a long chat with the CEO/Owner of Fulcrum about this a couple of years ago - he did explain the formula to me but I forget the simplest of things these days...
  13. They do but just wait until the local Mullah and the Mutaween get heavy on your arse
  14. Belzona Polymerics Limited Claro Road, Harrogate, HG1 4DS England Telephone: +44 1423 567641 Facsimile: +44 1423 505967 belzona@belzona.co.uk Or anyone in REME Don't take booze as a bribe to any Muslim country. The sh*t that you can get into is HUGE and NASTY. Malboro', Bic, T shirts (S/H but clean), Adjustable spanners, Shoe laces, Toothbrushes... Small easy to pack and cheap. Don't make out you are the big wealthy westerner!
  15. I run Red/Red OE HD 110 RHS springs on both sides. No worries with anything. My load leveller hasn't worked for ages. I replace with new OE springs every couple of years... I do use OME shocks mind
  16. Out of experience I would take pretty much what Ali mentions. I would fit decent props, half shafts and CV's prior to the off - make sure it's OE or Bearmach. Add to Ali's list a bearing scraper and Belzona liquid rubber and liquid metal. Then make sure you can change a UJ with your tools!
  17. Q plate means visual on the exhaust and no need for hazards... Might be an issue with engine if more that 25% power increase over original
  18. 2.5 pet would be a 1.44:1 - with a 300Tdi that should pull 65/70 happily. What size tyres are you running?
  19. Just out of interest what are you doing to a Husky to burn out a motor?
  20. "LRA has always been moderated by a "we don't like it, so it's deleted" attitude." Now that's funny, so funny I spilled my tea.... I'm thinking Kettles and Pots discussing colour here
  21. Trev informed the LRA users prior to the change - you just needed to read his post. It's gone now so hey ho Trev hasn't sold the forum he has done a deal to keep it going, a bit like selling advertising space on a forum The format is being worked on and is improving every day However each to thier own
  22. Hello Jeff; as I said on the phone, you, a grinder and a 1mm cutting disc is a bad mix. Battery box fixed yet?
  23. I did a 'Nige' yesterday I was checking over my widetrack in preparation for a move. When I went to hitch up the jockey wheel stuck so I moved the 110 back aways grabbed some WD40 and a hammer. Kneeling down by the hitch I proceeded to lubricate the jockey wheel shaft and then loosen the cinch bolt whith gentle taps of the hammer. I had all my weight on my left wrist and was working with my right. As the jockey wheel freed itself and gravity came into play, I was made aware that my left hand was directly under the ring hitch - this awareness was caused by the sudden impact of the hitch on my left index finger between knuckel and first joint. Heavy things Sankeys. I manged to lift the trailer off my finger without losing conciousness, stumbled back against the next door neighbours wall making what my neighbour described later as a strange whimpering noise, like a small lost puppy in the snow. She was surprised by the lack of swearing as she had seen it all happen. My finger is like a gone off sausage - all the colours of a stormy sunset. I can bend it and remain standing Later when I went to pick up my youngest from nursery, she grabbed my hand as she always does; then stopped to look at me and said "Daddy, why are you crying"
