  1. Oh dear ! Well, at least you had a couple of hours with it :D How well are the door mirrors attached ? - Did you go for the scratch resistant coating ?
  2. Martin Motors do a GRP replacement headlining for classics with no sunroof. May be worth a look ? Adrian.
  3. On the side of the power steering reservoir bracket ?!
  4. This is the only other picture I have at present. The rear bumper is intended to be, and is, a winch bumper. I have a removable winch. This means that the bumper is strong enough to take the weight of the spare wheel with no additional tie bars required. The bracketry you can see in the photo below the bumper is the remains of the crappy chocolate wheel carrier which was on the car when I bought it. I have not yet had a plasma cutter moment to remove it ! There is a sleeve welded into the bumper tube to strengthen it, and the retaining bolt is machined to allow greasing of the void between bolt and sleeve via a grease nipple on the end of the bolt. I have not yet come up with a quick release system I am happy with, thus the wheel is held in the closed position by means of an M12 bolt in the bumper. Friction between the contact surfaces of the pivot means that it has not been necessary to lock the carrier in the open position. Adrian.
  5. After much thought, and some design changes, mine lives on the back. It's about the only option with a bobtail which has back seats. The carrier pivots about a single point from the rear bumper, and is fabricated from 2" schedule 40 stainless tube. The tyres are 255/85/16 BFG muds. Edit - Used to run around with the wheel on the roof, but you'd be suprised how much the wind resistance slows you down, and costs you fuel !! Adrian.
  6. Thanks guys, I feel a dose of bucket chemistry coming on ! It looks like we have all the necessary kit here already - steam boiler, temperature controlled vessels, agitators
  7. Nick, There is some serious thought here at work regarding producing our own biodiesel, would you be prepared to give the benefit of your knowledge / experience ? We have tanks, pumps, filters and pipework, so we have the basics.
  8. Is there another reason for off roading a V8 then ?
  9. Jim, get off the fence and say what you mean I'm sure our British stiff upper lipness will prevail, and we will continue to bitch & moan on forums, but do sweet FA else.
  10. What you need is a nice LPG converted bobtail !!!! - I know where there is one for sale too Have a look on http://www.tinleytech.co.uk/ , they have some data on tank sizes and designs available.
  11. Excellent ! So now when it breaks down, you'll also have no clue where the F*** you are My 2p worth.... I hate the front grille, is it intended to let blind people know what has just hit them ?!
  12. 74% If you see me rigging a snatch block - stand well clear, it could be coming your way Not done much of this stuff for 25 years, so I guess I didn't do too badly.
  13. My 2p worth... Stevie Ray Vaughan - listen to Riviera Paradise on the In Step album. 14. Mine arrived this morning. Thanks very much to all involved. Adrian.
  15. Hi Tim, We have booked the castle B&B. Decided that we were not hard enough for a weekend camping in the rain in November. Hope to see you there ? - no dogs this time
  16. Of those above adding their 2 peneth, and who are insured with NFU, do you have modified vehicles ? - as far as NFU are aware. I used to be insured with NFU, but upon buying a bobtail, they were unwilling to continue my insurance as they would not cover modified vehicles. I now have 3 modified vehicles insured with Adrian Flux, and am reading this thread with great interest. I will say however, my wife insured her bobtail ( don't ask ! ) with AF for £100 less than I insured mine. When questioned, AF said the difference was because she is female I'll let you make up your own minds on that one. - not the being female !!
  17. Brozzy, I'm running a 200TDI in an ex V8 classic also. Where are you based ? If you are anywhere near me, you are welcome to come over to get clues on how the wiring is achieved. However, as Bish says, it is very minimal in a TDI. Adrian.
  18. Aside from the chocolate fixations, are any forum members going, or do I spend the weekend watching Jeeps show off ?
  19. Shame the weather was so poor ( It's an English thing )
  20. Hi Fraser, I assume that you are referring to the metal strips with the now non existant M6 mild steel coach bolts ? You should pm Weston on this forum for a part number if you wish to replace with genuine. Otherwise, you could make up some replacements using 25mm x 6mm mild steel or stainless flat bar. If you use stainless fasteners, you will also be able to get them off again in future. Another possible tip - I changed my RRC rear mudflaps for 110 rear flaps and cut to suit. The 110 flaps are much harder wearing material, and will not snap off like classic ones tend to. Adrian.
  21. Ah, that nice ms Princess, how lovely to hear from you after so long. Hob Nob ?
  22. Might be Actually, I was just going to give her the plasma and tell her to run off to the tree in the distance. I find it restores the atmos of calm in the vehicle.
  23. Someone's got to run about with the winch rope and punch the card.
  24. Dave sounds interested, depending on the status of the trayback. I just need to get my weekend pass signed by the social secretary
