  1. I think those come with one of the swingaway spare wheel carriers
  2. Do the mnenomic/abbreviation, you'll find it is not so "PC"
  3. Marcellus, My mate runs 2 Defenders in Les Gets (pretty sure we can see Flaine from there) as do many other English owned/run companies in Les Gets (I spend most of the season on "telephone support"). The "number of seats" is a problem, but locally you seem to be able to do what you like as long as you are in favour with the mayor! 1st season my mate had a Peugeot MPV for transport and it caused no end of problems. Half way through the season he came to the UK for a week and took a 16yr old 110SW back. For round the resort it was ideal but the next year it had an engine refit to 300tdi for the next season and for the 4th season a ground up rebuild on a galvanised chassis. He now also has a "Foley" 130 CSW. That has 2 removable seats for the Geneva run! All the Les Gets landrovers run with mechanical and electrical maldies through the winter and any Landrover is going to need care and attention through the season. If you do not clean and treat the chassis it will rust to nothing in around 5 seasons. If you are buying a "recent" model then Foley and Keith Gott often have LHD in stock and are fairly reputable companies.
  4. Chris, you cannot call them pikeys anymore. Apparently it is an offensive term pikey Read some of the comments! I'm nearly 40 and they have always been pikeys "Caravan User and Nomadic Traveller" is the new prefered police term (abbv)
  5. ".....but sometimes the mud can stick. " The perfect out of context quote!
  6. My daily commute is 80miles round trip Currently use the wifes Focus TDCi (50-55mpg) 4 days a week instead of 3 Usually my 90 for the remainder day (22-25mpg) and my wife still does 120-150miles a week in "little trips" gym, shops, toddler group etc In total getting through ~300litre of diesel a month!
  7. I think you'll need to add drain holes in the lowest part of the section too. They are on the original but not the replacement
  8. Fault is probably in the "hazard" switch/rocker. ALL the indicator wiring goes through it. (I think )
  9. PAS or alternator belts will "chirrup" UJ's "tinkle" atlow speed at high speed they go "bang, thump, thump, thump, thump........"
  10. Uncle Les shows you how to replace a 110 crossmember I'm pretty certain the rear tank support bolts to the crossmember. I really cannot see how thay intend to replace it without removing the tank!
  11. If it's a 110 then "close" does not begin to describe the proximity of the fuel tank to the crossmember. It HAS to come off. If it's a Pre TD5 90 they are talking out of thier a£$%.
  12. I nearly bought a 90 from a guy who was Norwegian. His 90 was in great condition underneath. Swore by this stuff here
  13. Noticed it, never thought about it. Collective knowledge is great!
  14. I "think" it only really matters if the nuts get a little loose. Then you are quicker and deeper in the mire if the wheels are bigger than the hub. Obviously, being H&S compliant the leccy board drivers check their nuts daily In fact the newer vehicles seem to have the yellow triangle doofers on the nuts now.
  15. Proper Landrover wheels are "hub centric". They centre on the hub which takes some of the load off off the studs/nuts. 8 spokes (or at least the 2 sets I have) are oversize for the hub so the studs take all the load. So they already place a load outside of Landrover's design constraints on the studs. The cone of the nut and mating surface increase the surface area and therefore the (can't think of the right word) amount the nut sticks to the wheel. The cone also centralises the nut in the hole. There is probably half a dozen other reasons why it is not safe to do it as well, I'm sure someone will come up with them. I'm guessing type approval, accident and insurance will be some of them
  16. But what is Shell's turnover in the same period? £3Bn is a massive number but not much profit in % if turnover was £300Bn Last accessible accounts were 2005 and they made 13% profit, before tax. Better than I expected, but not exactly raping the consumer!
  17. I looked at the bolts in B&Q and they were not stamped/forged with strength markings Assume them to be made from chocolate grade steel. I was going to take issue with them but considered it above the level of standard £$%^wit employed there.
  18. The Landrovers are too tall for that garage I have a bigger one further down the drive
  19. Apart from no one being injured, my biggest relief was that the truck had UK plates. Still got the hassle of contacting the insurance companies though. Missed our 1800 litre oil tank by 2ft, but the debris shower has moved it 3 inches and has some deep gouges in it! Damage spotted so far Neighbours wall Our wall Garage door Car Oil tank 4Ft mature hedge Neighbours wall 2 8inch wooden gateposts Gate more wall Neighbours porch I guess as it was straddling the wall there was not much braking effort from the tyres. It was already on the pavement well out of shot of pic 3
  20. Dunno, whatever he was doing he made no attempt to negotiate the small kink in the road. Police can only try for "without due care......" type prosecution.
  21. Yup, well spotted. Pop round, I'm easy to find. It's the house with no front wall
  22. Yet, somehow this happened It was this far from the road The culprit SOME of the other damage Now, if I done the damage myself I wold not get if fixed. The Landrover already has bigger dents! However, the eyebrow is split. And worse, a practically new BFG has a bit torn from the sidewall. Amazingly no glass is broken, and a brick has gone through the garage door!
  23. Potentially, I will be about 15mins away fromthis on Saturday morning. Anyone else going
